Run that on a 24S motor and the new FC esc.

Nah, I'd go twin 2215's on 10s each.

Waiting on Ben to send me a price for drives, Rudder and shipping. Then mine will be on it's way! Thinking about the scorpion 5035 760kv on 12s for power, not 100% yet

Anybody mind posting the hull price for those of us who are not members.

I think its 450ish Carbon shown is an upgrade, so thats as a standard lay up.

Thats sweet! Wish my 1515's on 6s were enough for this. This is a biggin.

Leopard nemesis golds have been used to power 58" venom gas kos converts. Wonder what two if those would do as a twin in this.

I think it was 385ish...Nope, it's more than that - but still a bargain if the quality is there. If Ben wanted everyone to know the price you wouldn't have to be a member. I won't betray his trust....join if you want to know. But the shipping charge on a 60" hull... :scared:

Geeze, I can't believe the low-brow motors you guys want to use in this big hull. Why not spend a few dollars and make it nice?

oops, guess I was a little off.

Okay let's put a couple turbine motors in it and get it over with. :)

That's what I'm talking about! :rockon2:

Shipping costs? Imagine shipping costs to me in Australia! Mine is already ordered in carbon:thumbup:

As for power plant, I am yet to decide, I am thinking 2 of Ben's new 5660 TP motors in 780kv on 16s with 2 of his 16s200a speedy's. I would also really like to get some NEU's into something to compare the the LMT's going in the MHZ 5008. Decidions decisions lol:rockon2:

Twin 2028's
Quadline Turbine's
Octoline T600's on 10S(880kv) (one for each prop, so 16 motors in total):sarcasm1:

...I am thinking 2 of Ben's new 5660 TP motors in 780kv on 16s with 2 of his 16s200a speedy's....That is really too much voltage for a 780 Kv motor except for SAW running and is well over the manufacturer's recommended maximum rpm; 12S would be a better maximum. And it is never a good idea to run any ESC at its maximum voltage rating. Of course, if speed is more important than reliability.....

So you think the scorpions from MHZ are low brow motors? They have put much larger boats with less cells to very respectable speeds. And the price of these motors isn't what most would consider low brow!

So you think the scorpions from MHZ are low brow motors? For such a large boat, yes I do but that's just me. I have trouble believing the specs that MHZ publishes. Scorpion rates 5535s as relatively low amperage motors which saturate their windings above ~120 amps, converting additional power into heat. They are very rpm limited compared to inrunners, 22,000 rpm according to Scorpion. For $440 each you have other proven options. Don't get me wrong, I have Scorpion motors and love them for what they are, but for a five-foot-long scale boat I'd go with something I could get more serious performance out of.
At least they sound like turbines.....

What motors would you consider if this was your build?

I am only interested in SAW passes, I have other boats for long run times and good handling, besides which to make packs compatible between all my projects it would be 15s regardless, as I'll be using multiples of 3s packs. As far as running the esc to it's maximum, Ben has 24s versions on the way (and I have 4 on order) but they are rated to be USED at 16s, not maxed out.

Thank you for the sound advise tho fluid, despite being a new comer to these forums and rc boating, I build and shoot 2000+Hp turbocharged and fuel injected drag cars down a drag strip, so am not clueless to the mechanical limitations of any components and combinations and have a multitude of eagle tree data logging equipment and enough common sense to use it:D

Now back to the new cat, who else is jumping in?
