Wondering if there are any issues with the 180 amp seaking by hobbywing? Couple friends and I are going to order about 10 esc's. If the differece froma 120 amp to 180 amp is only about 30 bucks, we're thinking might as well order all 180 amps. Want to run mostly 4S, but also will run 6s once in a while.

180 is a good controller. Just be sure to disable the BEC if running more than 4S.

Depends on the amperage you will be pulling............if in the 80a range the 120's are fine and will save you 300 bucks on 10.

well, there's about 4 of us , running proboat impulse 31s, ul1's and motley crews. We're all using ul1 2030 motors in most of the boats, running gens ace 2s 5300 35c x 2 packs. We want to push the envelope without worrying about the stock esc's burning up.

The 120's are plenty...........i have several i run in boats and they are the best value in a 120 esc.

The 120a ESCs should be fine for the UL1 motors. After having some really bad luck with a Castle Hydra 120 (had a fet fail after 5 runs at 70a-4s, fixed under warranty, came back and wouldn't arm, fixed again and turned into a bunch of charcoal after two more runs) so I replaced it with a SeaKing 120 for twice the price of sending the Castle back for repair 2 times. The SeaKing preforms as well as the Hydra 120 and is still going strong after over 30 runs. All this for 1/3 the price.

Data sheet for the 180 says it is good on 6S, with BEC able to deliver 3A from its switched mode power supply. I've just put one in my Genesis to run on 6S with a Leopard 4082 1550KV motor. Is there something else that I should have known about beforehand ??

The debate will go on about maxing out the T180 on 6s, but i run two of them on 6s and have never had a problem in probably 100 runs between them............and i'm using the BEC.

are the Turnigy and the Hobbywing Seaking the same esc's internally?

yeah, you're paying for warranty when you buy the seakings, there's also an extra cap bank, I don't know if they are still with it but the ones bought from OSE have one.

I run my 180 on 5s in my Pursuit using the built in BEC and Have had no issues yet. It's a great controller.

I agree, I run 5s on my seaking 120 using bec and have no problems.

I should mention I'm running a leopard 3674 1700kv. So the 120 is plenty for ul1 motor, but 180 is always better if you can afford it, never know when you want to upgrade motor )

Hey Dana, how fast does your UL-1 get on that 3674? How long do you get on a pack and do the temps stay in control?

Running 180's on several of my boats. NO issues. Would definitely buy again. Just make sure you turn it off and back on again after you program the throttle setpoints.....otherwise, there is a potential of "FULL THROTTLE" if you lose signal.

I dont actually run it in my ul1. It's in my Titan 29 running 5s2p and get consistent 50mph with x444 prop. I was running stock ul1 motor on 4s with consistent 48 mph on 40/57/3 prop. I plan to throw the leopard in the ul1 to see what it will do on 5s1p
