I currently have the proboat stiletto and I have upgraded the ecs to a t120 marine and now want a new motor for a bit of extra speed. I dont know what motor to go for though. The leopard 3650 will fit under the outboard cover no prob but do I go for the 2290kv or 2090kv, also the 3660 is an option but I'm not sure if it will fit under the cover but as again what kv should I go for 2120kv or 2050kv? The prop I'm looking at is an x642 and the batteries I'm using are 5000mah 40c, 6000mah 25c and 5800mah 25c turnigys.

The difference in Kv won't really be noticed, but I'd go for the 3650/3.5Y motor due to timing issues. The longer the motor is the more torque it could produce, but if the 3660 won't fit under the cowl don't worry about it. With the x642 you could in theory reach 50 mph, but that's pretty fast for this hull. I would be careful with the 25C packs......

50mph is a lot more than I was hoping for. I think I will give the 3650 a go then. With the stock setup the 25c 5800mah run cooler than my 40c 5000mah packs which is strange.

Actually the difference in the packs is not all that strange. IME the Turnigy packs are spotty in their QC anyway. But the 40C packs are - in theory - giving up their energy faster due to their potentially lower internal resistance, which heats them up faster too.

You may want to stick with the stock prop at first until you see just what the boat will do with the new motor. An x442 may be more appropriate.

I have an x640 that I have been using on it so I will try that before I go bigger. Thanks.

James where are you going to get the motor from? I think I will follow your lead on this, sounds a good motor to upgrade to.
