My buddy is looking to build a Large 45" MHZ twin Cat and would like to get some recomendations on what to run. He is looking to run 9s1p 5000mah 45c packs on each motor since he already has these packs from another project. I am pretty sure he is going to go with FighterCat ESC's so what size Neu motor's should he go with. I was thinking for a boat that size I would go with twin Neu 1527's but I have never built a twin and figured it would be better to ask here instead of give bad advice.

I'll suggest a couple Leopard 4082 1000kv's as a less expensive but fast alternative..................should be plenty for a 45", although dont know the speed hoped for yet. Twin 1527's seem like overkill unless he's going for huge speed.

I am pretty sure my buddy wants to run Neu motor's. I know the Leopard motors are a great value but nothing beats a NEU. The smallest he will prob run is a 1521 but my main concern is will the smaller can take the heat from 9s packs like the 1527 will?

Thanks for Posting this set-up question for me Raydee, but I'm on this site now and things just got more critical, the Hull is on order.:roflol:

Guys can you advise me on three questions.

When planning a drive system for a boat, here is what I do Figure 3.5 volts per cell (under load) x cell count (in my proposed drive 9S 5000 mah 45C packs) times motor KV Neu 1521 1050kw Proposed prop speed 33,075 rpm

1) Is 33,075 rpm a good speed for the props available today, or should it be lower rpm.

2) For a MHZ Mystic C5000M 45" Carbon/Kevlar Cat Hull do you think two Neu 1521 motors would be a good high speed choice, or do I need more motor like Neu 1527

3) Anyone know if MHZ can offer drives for this hull which use 3/16" ).187 flex cable in place pf the 2mm wire drive noted on their web site.

Thanks in advance for your help.

Well..........still wondering what speeds you are hoping for.................... 33k rpms is a nice zone to be in though.

This is the standard offering for that size of hull:

still wondering what speeds you are hoping for

If I had to put a number on it lets say 65-70mph would make me happy, a bit faster and I'd be real happy. After all big boats look slower

Thanks CornelP The MHZ USA Site has a different description of the drives, So I'll just need to be specific on my order.

Thanks

Just for reference, I built a HPR 115 (45" cat) and used Castle 1520 motors which are 1600KV on 6S, 447 props and went mid 70s.
