hi all what are the differances between the newer 240 xl and the older 240 hydras besides a pretty green heat sink ?

There is very little in common between the two types. They use different FETs, different controls, different wires.....and the new ones are based on the successful ICE aircraft controllers, which have proven very robust even in 3D and helicopter flying. They are called HydraICE controllers, not just XLs. I've used ICE controllers for over a year in three boats and they work great - without water cooling. But then I never had much trouble with the old Hydras except when I really abused them in SAW racing.
