A guy on another forum has pointed out that Castle has the 1717's back at $70 a pop, apparently they found a few more box's in the warehouse. I don't need anymore but I did try clicking through all the way to the payment section and it seems all good. I hope some of you guy's who are still looking for them read this, good luck.

How much were these motors to begin with? The other motors on that page retail for $300, should I assume that's what the 1717 used to be as well and jump on one when/if I can because I'm not likely to find such a bargain again?

I know I could find SOMETHING to put it in at some point...

Just snagged a couple. Not letting it go by again. Time to fire up the lathe & make a few coolers.... for myself. SORRY guys, they are too much of a pain to do by hand feed on my lathe.

I did too! I see it as an investment, These are going to go back up to $120+ on the swap shop a few weeks after they are done selling them.

"Neu-Castle motors were designed in Olathe, Kansas and built in China. Product labels and images may not match those on this website. Specifications subject to change without notice."

Interesting quote from their web page.

Yeah, they didnt specify whether they where the air version or car version. Hopefully they are the car version.

I called Castle and they said they were the car version. I thought they were since they listed the kv of them. Sorry to all who missed out on the motors.

These motors are made at Castle's plant in China. They are not built by Leopard or Feigao or Hobbywing or anyone else. Castle has complete control over the manufacture of the motors, that's why they are more expensive than the other Chinese motors. They don't shortcut quality of materials, etc.

The comment about "markup" is missleading. When these older stock motors were built the price of the neodynium magnets was far less than it is today. The neat thing is that Castle didn't raise the price on old stock to match what they currently sell the 1515s for. But it is now moot as they apparently sold out.

That was one FAST sale! No kidding about the "limited stock". Hey maybe they will find some 1518's and 1520's buried in boxes as they search.

check the swap shop on multiple forums as well as ebay, they will be marked up from 70$ but still cheaper than 300$!

It seems a lot of the motors that people are receiving from this batch have a 6mm shaft, a few guy's on the LST forum have found this out and I found this on BYT forum
"quote"
SORRY guys, unfortunately these motors were made with a 6mm shaft (that's why they were off to th side in the warehouse.) If anyone is unhappy with the fact that they got a 6mm shaft, please let me know. We will give a full refund to anyone who wants to return the motor. (P.S. --I didn't know about the sale until after the motors were gone ... and I would have suggested charging $150, and not $80 ) Thanx! Patrick Patrick del Castillo President, Principle Engineer Castle Creations "quote"

I'd suggest to anyone who bought one in this sale batch to check before you fork $$ out for a 5mm coupler.

There are a couple of 6mm couplers here in the store,

Or the shaft can be turned down to 5mm fairly easily.Just take your time and measure, measure and measure again!!

I prefer 6mm for this size motor anyway. It's better if you have a boat with 1/4" drive because 5mm to 1/4" is a rare animal.

I'm happy about it. :rockon2:

If anyone needs to turn down the 6mm shaft to 5mm, here is the thread from rcmonster on how some of us did it.

I hope this helps:thumbup:
