Just looking for an ESC since my suppo drowned. I am not really willing to spend much over 100$ at the moment, a T180 is probably my best bet, but will take anything as long as it will hold up.

A brand new t180 is 104.00 on this site... I have two of them that are over 1 year old and still going strong...

yeah, just trying to decide whether to get that, a T180 from HK (out of stock), or get two SS 200's (same as suppo that worked fine for 10 secs) and have a backup.

I saw them at 105 earlier today.
I went ahead and got the two from HK, i'll sell one off or hold on to it once I get the boat running smoothly.

If you have roughly $100 to spend on speedos, why would you buy 2 junkers instead of 1 good one? It makes no sense to buy 2 junk ones, then when one burns up, replace it with your back-up junk one.

yep ..... time to spend $$ once, for something that will work right...... instead of less $$ for something that most likley fail

100 bucks is a budget esc. If you can't afford it, you may be in the wrong hobby. Or you're building a boat beyond you budget. Btw it is no cheaper at HK after shipping

Well, I'm getting a job as soon as possible to start making extra money for the hobby, then i'll start spending money
How do the T180's perform with the t600s?

there are seaking 180's on ebay right now for like 89 or 99 bucks and a few bucks to ship imho i had a turnigy 180 that burnt up after 2 runs i would be looking for something else

Rumdog

The T-180 or seaking 180 is THE best esc for the price. Chances are, if you smoked one you're doing something wrong

1truckerdan

smoked??????? what??????

madmorgan
08-16-2011, 04:58 PM
yeah like i said it ran good for 2 runs then i had to go retrieve the boat the esc would no longer power my rx so i installed a batt to power the rx and then the smoke appeared and there was still plenty of charge on the lipos that was the tunigy 180 a 2 5300 mah 30 c in series

madmorgan

oops they are 3s packs from what i read all over the net the 180's cant really handle 6s so my loss no biggy

Rumdog
08-16-2011, 05:18 PM
I run 6s all the time on them. What really matters is what motor, boat, and prop.

madmorgan

i see so it was pushing a leopard 4082 1500kv motor on a .150 flex shaft about 14 1/4 long down to a octura y535 prop in a miss vegas deuce hull all stock did i miss anything? i wont lie on the 1st 2 runs i couldnt hold wot for more than 3 seconds cuz she was just going faster and faster and got sketchy so i had to keep backing off but in the end i will not buy another one of them esc's i almost lost 1 pack from the heat caused by the melt down but it survived and everything that was used with the setup is still functional except for the lump of charred plastic that use to be. obviously something on the board malfunctioned causing it to quit powering the rx and probably when i put the batt power to the rx to power it the esc had conflict and melted . you keep on using them esc's i will go to a better name brand that is proven to be useful

Using the BEC on 6S is asking for trouble with a T180 esc.

Make sure you use 22-30* timing on you T600 motors or any 8+ pole motor!!

on to my 3rd suppo, the second one quit, I think it's because it got wet since I can see some corrosion. this one will be protected with something, i'll go get something at lowes or rona tomorrow.
I have it set to 30* 16 khz.
