I'm planning on doing my first Fe build with the Delta Force 22" Hydro hull, and I was wondering if anybody had some advice on hardware? I'm looking for speed.

The best deal around is in the OSE store. The Solinger hydro hardware system is of excellent quality. For 90 dollars you cant beat it. Solinger Hardware System (http://www.offshoreelectrics.com/proddetail.php?prod=sol-hydro)

Yeah, I had seen that setup. Thanks for the advice. I'm getting almost all the parts from OSE. I live like 40 minutes from the store, just waiting for the ponds to unfreeze so I have a place to run it.

Hey Neighbor, welcome aboard! It seems that there's no interest in the Boston area with FE boats. I am glad that there's more than 3 FE RCers now in the metro Boston area. :) The consensus seems to be that the "L" size BL motors with 3S1P to 4S1P LiPos are ideal for the DF22. The senior members on this site are great for advice and practical working knowledge on a wide array of setups.

Let's hope for an early Spring!

Thanks for the welcome. I just remembered I live near a river so maybe I'm in luck! I I try to get my friend into Fe, but he can't get his head around the fact that electric is faster than nitro.

What size motor do you reccommend? OSE has a Feigao 540 L. I saw a vid on youtube of DF22 with a 5000 Kv Bl and it was extreme! do they have a 5000 kv on OSE? If they do I don't have to pay shipping on it!

I think I'll go with the 540. I saw a video with that hull made by some Japanese or Chinese guys and it had a big motor. They got a GPS speed of 109 kilometers per hour!

That is 67.5mph!!! That is SMOOKIN!! I run a Feigao 7S on 2S1P lipo, CC125A esc, and s&b x435... I think it does about 40mph, no gps yet....

Yeah, I found a vid where they say what they run, it's a feigao 540 L 11 turn, 125A 30V ESC, but then the real power probably comes with the fact that they run 8 A123 cells.

The 11 or 12L IMO is perfect for a little hull like that. You can go with lower turns but as the speeds get silly the fun factor goes way down. Now how can that be right? Well how fun is it retrieving a boat every 30 to 40 seconds when it blows off?

he can't get his head around the fact that electric is faster than nitro.

I get that alot when I show my boats off @ work or when I have company. The simple way to explain it is with a question. Ask them if they know of a nitro engine the can turn 30, 40 & 50 thousand rpms? Not very many I'm sure.

I got some more questions after surfing around OSE:

Should I use a 10 or 11 turn Feigao 540 L?

What kind of turn fin do you recommend?

Can somebody help me out here?

I would use the 11-12L on 2/ 7.4V lipos in series for 4S total.... Start with small x430 prop and work your way up...

You sure 7.4 is good? I want speed out of this thing, so I was thinking higher on the voltage scale.

You need to run 2/ 7.4V lipos in series... Not 1/ 7.4V....

If you run the 11L on 2/ 7.4V lipos(4Slipo), it will spin 35300rpm unloaded... The 10L will be around 38900rpm unloaded... These are good FAST set-ups with the right prop...

what ESC should I use? I am using a Feigao 540 L 10 turn, here's the ESC I was thinking of using:

Hows that? Will it handle the motor? I found out the local river is unfrozen so I want to get going soon.

What size turn fin will handle this boat?
