I was wondering if anyone was running 5s on the stock speedo and if the 3s on one side and 2s on the other would throw the handling off?

I wouldn't do 5s on the stock speedo. You will be running on borrowed time IMO. Not sure how much 2s on one side and 3s on the other would throw the weight off....

I have. Unplug the red wire on the esc and supply the reciever with its own power somehow else. I am using a castle bec and a 2s 1300 lipo. It is fast but I haven't quite got a good metal prop yet that is small enough. I have some 38mm plastic kyosho props that I have used. I have a stainless proboat 4019 that I widdled away on some more and can't wait to give it another try. I actually think that the way I had it might have been good in a little more chop or in "race" water. it was just to much load for smooth water still.
I can't say that I have actually gone faster on 5s as compared to some of you that have the grim 42mm prop and claim mid 40's. I need to order one and also the m445 for 4s use

read somewhere where the aquacraft speedos are good to 20v. The lipo cutoff just wont function properly and the bec can't handle the volts properly to give glitch free operation. I have ran 5s on the original sv27 quite a bit the motley speedo seems to work the same its just capable of 20more amps.

I ran mine on 5s once on stock motor and esc with m445. The boat was crazy fast and ran til a motor lead got unsoldered. Guess it got too hot. Luckiy the motor and esc re ok. Going to try it again but with the ul1 2030 kv motor I just installed.

you have to use smaller props. I have a ammo 1200kv motor in my sv27 and it will run same as stock did on 4s but stays real cool andrun time is great. you can run on 4s to slow down when the water is really choppy
