Neu 1521 Vs Leopard 4082 Motor...is it sure the Leopard put out the same power??There are no rules about advertising the specs of motors, manufacturers can make up anything they want. The Neu 1521 motors can handle 1750 continuous watts, Leopard does not say that about their 4082. Both say they can handle 3500 'surge/maximum watts', but is that input or output watts? Who knows? The Neu definitely has a higher efficiency - you do get what you pay for - so for the same amp draw from the packs the Neu will deliver more power, will push the boat faster and will run cooler. If you burn up the Neu out of warranty you can send it back and get up to 40% credit on a 'new' motor. The Leopard, well......

From my limited testing the Leopards are not bad motors, at least I've not gotten a bad one. But the Neu 1521 runs cooler and has lots of power compared to the 4082 Leopard. The leopard is no slouch, but it is no Neu either (I've looked inside of both). You pay your money and you make your choice.

As far as size and weight, the higher efficiency Neu is longer and heavier as well.

Leopard 4082: 15.69 oz. 82mm long
Neu 1521: 16.92 oz. 84mm long

Both 40mm dia.
