Getting desperate here guys. Is there any update? Is there an alternative lake? Has anyone considered pursuing something else WHILE fighting for the home lake?

Has anyone tried to see if we could run HERE (http://maps.google.com/maps?q=36.778627,-76.044536&hl=en&sll=36.778724,-76.044475&sspn=0.001398,0.002631&t=h&z=16)?

Does anyone else know of a temporary race pond?

You're right Dick. I keep forgetting about the "noise" factor.

Dick;

I am trying to get hold of Tracy, but think he might be out of town for the weeknd.

Mike, Robin and myself are in agreement to have the race here at the Centreville lake.

I have to see if UOSA (Mike Reach) will be in agreement with it.

I will let him know of the problems you have had at your lake and the state of NON AVAILABILITY
you folks are presently in.

If memory serves, this would be the final points race for the season. correct?

Carl

If it get everyones blessing, we would need HELP running the race...........................

This next race is the final District points race of the season.

Guys, Dick tried like heck to heck to keep the race in tidewater but it got to the point where he just ran out of time waiting for the powers to be to give him the green light. He has offered the race to the Capitol Club to be held the last weekend in August. Pending approval from Tracy and the pond management we will be hosting the race. As per Dicks request, this will only be referred to as District 12 Points Race #5. This will not be a relocated ODMBA district race. That means the Capitol Gang will be running the whole show. We have barely recovered from the race last weekend but we're willing to step up for the district. If this happens, we could really use your help by not only attending, but perhaps running the retrieval boat for a couple hours during the weekend. Hosting a race is allot of work and our active membership is no where near what most clubs in the district have. We really want this to be the best attended race of the season. The Capitol pond is a nice site with plenty of room for canopies and trailers. There are also allot of high quality hotels at a very affordable price.

Carl will let us know when we get the final okay to proceed with the plans.

Rest assured that Dick is doing everything he can on several fronts to get the ODMBA Club back on track. It's been a screwy year for the entire district but hopefully all the problems this year will be resolved soon and we'll get some normalcy back in 2012.

BTW- You guys are the first to know about the race site change.

Thanks!!!

Now a few questions you need to find out are who owns it? Could you use it? How far away are hotels and food? Will they let you erect a drivers stand? Can buoys be left in place? Can you create a safe launch area? That'll get you started and tell if it's a viable home for the club if we can't work out the ODMBA current location.

All, I've been working the Neck Rd. pond(s) in Chesapeake. I have not run into opposition, but the land owners want more information regarding what they would be signing up for.Since just 3 weeks ago, i broke my foot in 2 places and have torn ligaments, I haven't been able to pursue for the past few weeks, let alone walk!I have already discussed permanent structures to include a dock and drivers stand with 1 of the 2 land owners. As long as there's insurance, he doesn't mind at all.Details on both lakes: plenty big, old sand pits (deep with no backlash), full access all around, 1 completely surrounded by trees for wind break but set 20 yards back from shore, full access for vehicles, trailers, etc, No power. All looks promising. It will likely take a month or 2 to smooth over details, but come Fall, we can practice. All race items to include buoys can stay in place with no issues. Here's to keeping fingers crossed, if not for anything else, a test lake moving into next year.

Glad to see the ODMBA is still around and hosting races. I was president in 1976 when we hosted the 1976 IMPBA Internats. We obtained permission to run in that lake about 1974 and built the bridge and concrete steps in 1975. Perhaps it would help if you remind the School Board of the thousands of dollars the Internats brought into the city of Chesapeake and surrounding areas. We never had any problems at the lake and when the State Police were headquarterd there, they used to come out and watch. I have a scrapbook of some of the history around here somewhere. Debbie's R/C used to have some pictures up on a board before they moved to the new location.

Best of luck to you guys,

Steve Stevens, Past Vice President and President ODMBA, 1975-1976
