I have a 43" mono hull about 20 years old. I almost had everything running when I burned up the OPS 80 nitror motor.
Now I decided to spend the money and fit it with all electric equipment.
I need help to know where to start.
It is my understanding that the OPS80 would have pushed that boat almost 80 mph.
It is also my understanding that at about 50 or 60 the mono hulls start getting touchy.
I believe the 80 could have been a 6.? hp motor.
I believe it may be better for me to start with something about 5hp.
I believe I want to go with USA equipment if possible or practical, perhaps from one source?
Where do I start. Who makes a good motor, cooling clamp, ECU, batteries, shaft, Shaft cupler etc? Because of the size of the boat I should use 8mm shaft?
I know this is a great deal to start my first tour of OSE but I must start somewhere.
Role your eyes if you like, but help if you can.
Thanks.

Up to 50 mph is not too expensive........to get a 43 incher in the 50-60 zone can get a bit pricey. It needs alot more voltage which requires a beefier ESC, higher dollar batts(in a 2p setup mind you), and a motor that can put the voltage to good use. A Castle 1717 with an x447 should give you 45-50 on 6s. From there you need to start looking a a Neu 2215, Castle 2028 or Neu 2230.

My bathroom scale says 11 lbs with receiver batteries and a few empty plastic tanks that will be removed.
From what I can tell the 2215/Y2 motor will run $459.00 + jacket @ $54.95 = $513.95. I am hopping when I get this shopping list together, I can get a package deal somewhere?
Do you have a ECU recommendation? As you can tell I am looking for good sturdy equipment. I know I will not be breaking any speed records and I don't want to take out a second mortgage.
Lets keep going, Please.
