Motor Upgrade/Outrunner???

Has anyone done a motor upgrade in the MC yet? I got my sk180 and 4074 all installed and ready to go last weekend. Got ready to leave and figured out the hatch cover will not fit over the motor. Has anyone installed a hot motor that fits? Would love to hear whats working. How about an outrunner? Should fit and make a lot of power. Thanks, Frank

To get the long motors to fit you can reverse the motor mount and re-work the stuffing tube. That allows motors up to 3" long to just fit under the hatch and moves the CG back a bit too.

There was a big fad over outrunners last year, and some still love them (usually due to the low pricing). Issues with them include hard to cool, rpm limitations with some ESCs and additional torque roll. I'd stick with your Leopard since you already own it - but what Kv do you have?

I will check that out. I thought the motor mount was already offset towards the rears. Maybe I am confused. I have the 4074 1774kv. Should run real nice on 5s.

That motor should work well on 5S. Go easy on prop sizes at first.
