hey guys, I am new to the forum but have done alot of reading here. I was wondering if the shockwave 26 bl could handle a 3s lipo with the stock metal prop with out blowing the esc. I would like to keep the boat in the stock setup and have it be as fast as possible. will it handle the 3s for a while or should i just stick with the 2s setup? thanks for the info.

Nope :flashfire:
They go up on 2s sometimes as well.

Hi microboat,

No, the stock ESC can blow on 2S if you change to a bigger, or higher pitch, or metal, or 3-blade prop - it is marginal from the start and if it goes it can melt holes in the boat as well. My boat on 2S did 28mph with the original plastic prop and the motor pulled 50-55A at full throttle. Upgrading to a higher pitch metal Octura Y535 I got 31mph and 55-60A current draw (I have the Hobbywing Seaking 60A ESC in mine).

I'd suggest a Hobbywing Seaking 60A or 90A ESC if you want to run 3S - I have run mine with an Eagle Tree data logger on 3S and with an Octura X431 plastic prop (smallest I have) the motor was drawing 60-65A continuously and did 36mph. With the Y535 metal prop it drew 95-110A and did 40mph but was pretty unstable because of the flattish bottom - tends to spin out.
