My spartan setup! With videos!

So i finally got to run my spartan today! I bought it used off the forums here from stadiumyamaha. I got some pretty good videos of it on the stock batteries, 3s lipo and 6s lipo.

First run- 2 stock 7 cell batteries in series

Second run- 2 3s 5000mah lipo batteries in parallel

Third run- 2 3s 5000mah lipo batteries in series so 6s total, i was pretty nervous at first with the temps, so i only ran it for a little while, and the temp on the motor was around 123 and the esc at around 90

Second water pick up, bigger diameter tubing all around, aluminum water jacket, a second set of trim tabs, and lastly the lights!

Good to see you out enjoying your "new to you" Spartan.

What prop are you running? Stock?

Just one observation, keep an eye on your Deans Ultra connectors on 6S, They may be a bit under rated for the amp draw and could heat up on you.

Yeah just the stock prop, the only thing i noticed is when i got close to full throttle the boat started swaying side to side, like rocking almost. Any idea why?

Yeah thats what the guy i bought the boat from said. But a run 6s in my savage flux all the time? Is there a difference in boats?

Yes that rocking side to side is referred to as chine walking, or as many here call it "the death wobble". The Spartan has a very deep V and as the hull rises out of the water, it rides less on the hull and higher up on the V. Good for reducing hull drag, not so good for stability at high speed.

You can settle it down to some degree by moving your batteries forward in the trays, this will keep the nose down and more hull in the water. Running wet on the hull increases drag and reduces speed a bit, but the boat will be more stable.

Some of the guys have experimented with moving the trim tabs closer to the strut or adding a second set of tabs to help stabilize the boat. Some claim it works great, others say the difference is minor.

I'm not a wheeled RC guy to any degree, but my understanding is the amp draws and spikes on boats is considerably higher that that on cars/trucks/truggies. Deans Ultra are great connectors, I've used them lots in the past, but the Spartan is a big boat and puts considerable draw on the electronics.

They may work fine for you, but keep an eye on them, especially if you decide to prop up at all.

To be honest, I didn't do the lights, the guy before me set them up and i asked him where he got them, and he said he thought from hobby king, but i couldn't seem to find them! I'll ask again and if i figure out ill let you guys know!

I found out where the lights came from! However I don't know how to set them up, but I do know that it's A huge pain in the but to do the front four!
