Hello Bob,

What batteries are you using? Are they new? Fully Charged? Have you tried a differerent set? Weak batteries can cause this problem to happen. I don't think a smaller prop from stock is going to fix the problem and can be detrimental to the performance of this boat.

Batteries New.. Fully Charged. 2, 7 cell 4400 mah, 8.4 volts runs good no cutting out. When I run my 8 cells 3600 mah 9.6 volts it cut out. Batteries and Esc not getting hot. Motor just warm to the touch. Can run at half th and everthing is good ..

Came to the conclusion after 20/20 hind site, that, that esc is very sensitive to Nimh voltage fluctuations ...Lipo's work flawless...

Hello Bob,

I don't think it would be wise to run those 9.6v packs on this ESC.
Especially with (I'm guess on this) the BEC enabled. At those voltages, you should run a receiver pack. In addition, you are running the ESC at it's maximum voltage; not a good thing.

Why are the esc working with high volts.. Like Lipo's?? Just asking not arquing

2s1p lipos usually have voltages around 8.4v or so. This ESC is rated up to (optimistic) 21v. Most ESC that have a BEC will support up to 14.4v. After that, for reasons you may want to read up on elsewhere, you should run a receiver pack. Some people have gotten away with 16.8v but that is really pushing the limit on most ESC's w/BEC. Of course, there are exceptions. Try running a receiver pack, disable the BEC and see if the problem goes away.:confused2:

Has anyone ever ran a aftermarket prop on the stock set up, if so how?

Battery Eliminator Circuit. The red wire, that is in the wiring bundle, coming from the ESC to the receiver. Unplug it from the connector on the receiver side. Tape up the loose connector so that it is not exposed. On the receiver is a plugin that is probably labeled "Batt" plug in one of these with 4"AA" batteries installed. http://www.offshoreelectrics.com/proddetail.php?prod=dh-3170 Make sure it is inserted correctly. I hope that helps.

A few people have. The X640 and X642 are good choices. Ask Obrien. He is the "Hot Rod Dude" for this boat. I never ran mine with the stock setup.
