I am changing out motor and esc going with the swordfish 200a and a leopard motor. Can't decide between the 3674 2650kv or 4074 2000kv. Pretty much witch is faster of the two still learning about the motors. Will the 4074 motor fit in the mc. Want to run up to 6s and want it to be able to do some crazy speeds
Thanks

Neither are a good choice for 6s. The 4074 should fit, but you will want to add support for the rear of the motor.

What is the highest cell you can run with those motors? what kind of speed can I get with that setup do you think ? Any suggestion on a affordable motor that I can run 6s I wanted to run 2 3s batts everyonce in a while but mainly 2 2s

Why not just keep the stock motor and upgrade the esc?

I don't know What do you suggest and how fast do you think it would be what esc

i think that by changing the speed control to a 125,putting the 5.5 bullets on everything and using 5 cells, the boat should run all day in the mid to upper 50,s without breaking and replacing parts all the time and still have a very controlable boat.

Mike whiting

Do you run 1 5 cell or a 3 and 2 cell

I'd be careful with "crazy" speed in that hull. Doesn't look like there is too much room for center of gravity adjustment. She might blow over a bit too easy with speeds approaching and upwards of 60mph. Just my opinion, as I don't own a Motley Crew.

you would use 1 3 cell and 1 2 cell. i dont think that the mc or the mg are 60 mph boats. even though there are a lot of guys running 60s with a miss geico its just not made to do that for any length of time before they start coming apart. imo i think they can both run mid 50's but the motley is much easier to obtain those speeds without spending a lot of $$$$. again, i own both boats and the motley is the bang for the buck.

I ran my mg with a tacon 4074 2000kv on 6s with a x642 and hit 63.4

2000 is a lot of kv for a single drive. It's even a hot setup for a twin.( which would be sweet by the way ).

What esc? Did u run 2 3s and how long can you run with that setup?
I am liking all these ideas just trying to figure it out so thanks to everyone

Hey I didn't say it was a good setup at 6s lol I only got like 3min run times...but fell in love with the cc 1518 62mph and 6-7min run times very happy that motor rocks can't wait to see what it does in my genesis

bbosncali
06-01-2011, 10:49 PM
I ran,a,seaking,180a it was fast but run times were crap went to a cc1518 1mph slower with only 1 outing and my shaft was slipping because I lost it that day an more than doubled the run time

what about a leopard 3674, not too much motor but an upgrade from stock

I tried like 6 motors in my mg before I found the right one 4074 2200 4082 1250 tacon 4074 2000 cc1512 1800 and my cc1518 1800 which hands down was worth every penny. I paid $140 for a new one and jacket and then bought another new one for a steal for $80 which is currently going in my genesis which will be running this weekend so I'm expecting great results. I also added a wire drive to my mg didn't gps it cause it was dead but boy she looked even faster.

Not really worth it pay the extra $10v and get 400 watts more its a great motor on 4s

Mike, I have a new in box 180 amp esc that will be perfect in your boat. Dana's suggestion is very good. Perfect motor/esc combo.

Is that the seeking?I like that idea to I think going with that setup what size lipos can I run up to

LarrysDrifter
06-01-2011, 11:55 PM
It's badged as Turnigy, but same exact esc. Only the sticker is different. They are rated 2-6s lipo. I'll sell it for $105.70 shipped and do pay pal as a gift. It's new, never used.

Thanks for the offer but I don't have paypal. I am going to order the 3674 2200kv so I am just going to order the seaking 180a with the program card 5.5mm bullets. What kind of water jacket would be good? So does the higher the kv mean shorter run time but faster

If you haven't checked the video sections in a while I posted a gopro video on the mc It's a little heavy up front and I drive in rough water makes it fun I still need to get a editing program so I can make the video good check it out

I don think the 3674 will be a direct fit replacement, take a look at the distance between the stock motor and the hatch, its very close, and the 3674 is 74mm long, which is 18mm longer than the stock 3656 AQ motor, so just be prepared to move that mount if need be.

FYI- I'm swapping my power out of my MC as well, i went with a T180 esc and going to test with a typhoon 1800kv outrunner and also have a kd3674 9xl to try as well, i plan on running 4s1p and 5s1p (3s+2s) x642 prop.

It is a tight fit in there I wonder if flipping motor mount around would make it fit

6sHyper

It will get you another 8.5mm's, which might be enough, cross your fingers!!

How long are your run times

Mike whiting

I notice that you don't have a water jacket is it not needed? Would you be able to take a pic of how you hook batts up with the bullet connecters i have an idea just want to see a pic

bbosncali

Depends on the motor. 4074 uses either a leopard jacket or an hrc there listed on ose for what they fit

Pretty much the bigger thevcan the more watts it will put out. A 3674putts out 2200watts max a 4074 puts out26000 max and a 4082 putts out 3500watts max. As far as run time anything around a 1500-1800kv will give you more time than a 2200kv. A 2200 would be good for 4-5s. 5s is pushing it and a 1500-1800 is good for 5-6s I personally run mine on 6s cause I like the high rpms and I get about 6-7mins of run time and temps stay low around 105 and I'm using a m645. The prop size has a lot to do with run time too cause the bigger the prop the more amps it draws

I run my boats for 2-3 minutes and with those runtimes I don't need a water jacket. I do want one however just cause they look nice mostly. As for batteries right now I run a single 4s pack on the right side of the motor.

Perfect all good info. I am thinking maybe going with 180a on stock motor for now and then if I want to go faster I'll change the motor. The stock motor will handle up to 6s 2 3s. Rite or wrong

Call me crazy but.....

I run 2s+3s (5s total) 5400mah packs and the stock AQ 60 amp esc and stock 1800kv motor with either a grim 38x55 or a 40x53 or 40x52 3 blade.
.
It runs great and nothing over 105 after 4 min or so. speeds in high 40's low 50's

I just use a castle BEC and disable the esc BEC. The AQ ESC has an input of 20volts. I do have a back up esc just incase but everything seems good so far.

www.lightflightrc.com has an ARC 36-55-1 that will bolt right up and not hit the hatch. It's 2800kv. Run on 4s for stupid speed and 3s for cruising around. You have the best of both worlds. You will need a bigger esc of course, such as a 180amp.
