There are copies and there are fakes and I reported this to HK a while back and it was a pain to prove it to them, but that is why they now list "copy" and "fakes" on their site. IMAX chargers are good chargers, they use the same menu logic as Bantam chargers. If you want look into Bantam chargers also. The E-Station chargers. They run hard and solid as I almost got an IMAX but realized it was a spin off of the Bantam products.

What kind of charge times using the AC680 on 4s 5000mah packs? Can it supply a full 5 amps at this voltage?

It depends on the wattage of the charger. That charger is only 80 watts which means you can charge a 4S 5000 at up to just barely 5 amps. 80 watts/14.4V = 5.55A. There will be some loss through resistance of the charge wires, etc. That means you're gonna have about a 1 hour charge time on that pack. If trying to charge two packs at the same time, you're gonna be down around 2+A rate. VERY SLOW

This one has 200Watt rating!

For only $20 more, you can charge your 4S 5000 packs at 13.8 amps! That will cut your charge time to around 25-30 minutes. MUCH better buy but is DC only.,

It's really maddening on the Hobbypartz site. The don't tell you the watts on most of their chargers. You MUST have enough watts to charge at higher C ratings unless you're just charging small 2S and 3S packs.

So how are the chargers mentioned above from hobby partz and HK at balancing are they accurate?
Jim are you selling these chargers?

No. I only sell one charger, a small Hyperion that does up to 4S. I sell them to service my customers that buy my mini boats and run them on 3S packs. I can also special order other hyperion chargers. In my opinion, they are the very best chargers on the market. I have one of their new 720 duo's runnning on 24 volts. I can charge two 5000 packs at 20 amps simultaneously! Good stuff but $280 and then you have to have a 24V source. I use two 47A power supplies in series.

I have no idea about how accurate those other chargers are. I have two of the hobbypartz chargers and I have cross checked the per cell readings from them with my hyperion battery checker and they are very very close.

Personally I'm a fan of the Cellpro 10s. But no built in supply for bench use, have to use a PC supply. Another charger would be nice for charging everything the night before. As well as being a pond backup for emergencies.
I hate the claims of all this amperage then you find out it doesn't have to watts to charge more than 3.7v at that amperage.

I've never used a cellpro but have heard really good things about them. You can get a really good deal on a power supply from www.feathermerchantrc.com

I'm using a hacked PC power supply, it can only supply the one charger though.

Thats it exactly! You can't beat it for about 100$ from the states!
Price took a major drop on the brand new ones when they released the powerlab 8 charger. Think it doubles as an arc welder!
My friends Cellpro4 is what turned me onto these chargers.
