Spartan broke in the box???

I want to start off by saying i am not happy with traxxas . :ThumbsDown01:

I bought a new Spartan less than a week ago. knowing what issues I was in for, (mods are part of the RC game) Started RC building way back in the 80's and yes I am old ha ha.
RC10 was the best back in the day and Traxxas has all way's been known as a toy.

With that said When you open the box you expect the product not to be broken (I will do that my self) the rudder looks like some one already tried to modify it. what a hack job good god :doh:
Soon as I learn how to post pics I will get one so all can see the hacks at work.
its still in the box I have ordered all new parts should have bought just a hull

Did not try to contact Traxxas, why just to receive a new one that I wont need.
but it seems Traxxas need to get with the program soon, online is a powerful tool and can kill your business

It's sad when your first post has to be one with negative input from what i remember RC hobby was fun!!! its all about the money for the big guys.
with gas prices on the rise you know money gets tight so there better be better quality for the dollar. just ask the car makers (GM and Ford)

That's their idea of a fix for a poorly designed piece. SERIOUSLY?!?!? Anew in the box product gets hacked like that from the manufacturer instead of getting a new supply of properly designed pieces? They just keep making themselves look worse the more they keep doing hack fixes instead of doing the right thing. (i.e. get the poorly designed motor,esc and rudder replaced with units that operate properly.)

as we all know some times things happen and it could have been worse, the rest of the boat seems fine.
overall all I wanted was the hull, will be replacing everything inside, that's the fun part of the RC hobby world.

OMG... I used to have one of those cox Nitro cars the you tied a string to it..nailed the other end into the asphalt, then start it and let it run in circles until it was out of gas. Now i really feel old. Thanks alot. LOL

That's where I got my start, U-control airplanes. Started out with a Cox PT-19 trainer and a Red Baron tri-plane. Then started building kits.

Man, that was a lot of years ago.

Oh yeah.....thats the infamous half moon hack job by traxxas. People who burned up motors and esc's got their boats back from traxxas support with the same hack mod done. They sent me an email with pictures showing me that's how they wanted me to mod it to resolve the issue. It didn't .... they have motor #2 as we speak. (SIGH)
Run it with the video cam running. I'll be surprised if you make it 5 minutes on 6s without hitting the thermal cutoff or turning it into a smoke bomb.

I was also thinking about selling all the part's to cover the cost of making the boat fun.
so far we are at $415.00 in up grades without shipping.

If you just sell the motor and esc as brand new, you should get enough to cover buying a quality motor and esc. Then the major issues should be resolved and you can go have fun. I finally got my leopard 4082 1600kv yesterday and finished installing it last night with a turnigy 180a esc. Can't wait to get home from work and take it for a run tonight.

I'de keep it if its what your after... the hack traxxass hack job will be ok once you get a real motor and esc for it :thumbup1:
hard to say how much you would get selling the motor and esc
maybe 50bucks for the motor and 50-60 for the esc :confused2:

just run it with some good lipo batteries till something gives and then upgrade or better yet replace the motor and esc now because the stock we all know they will fail, then run it :thumbup1:

Looks like a factory defect that got by QC. It happens. When I got my venom ekos it came with 2 prop shafts each with a different thread pattern. I found it was easier to just buy another shaft than to send the boat back and pay for shipping. Make sure you remove that piece of styrofoam, it will cause your boat to pull right! :laugh:

it alows more water volume to get into the system
but the way I mod my rudders works better, and I don't think traxxass understood what I was trying to tell them, so now we have these jacked looking rudders
