I'm prepping everything to run with my new leopard 4082 1600kv and I'm using the Turnigy 180a esc but being an ex-nitro guy I'm new to a lot of this electric setup.

Question #1- I purchased 2 Turnigy 6S 5000mah lipos to run in parallel What settings should I use for the ESC? Is it still 3 cells or do I need to use 6 cells? (I hear the auto detect doesn't work well so I don't want to trust it)

Question #2- Would the settings for 2 -6s batteries in parallel be the same in the ESC as running my 2 - 3s 5000mah batteries in series?

Question #3 - Is the 3.2v LVC the proper setting when using either the 2-3s in Series or the 2- 6s in parallel?

And finally...

Question # 4 - What is the recommended timing setting for the 4082 1600kv motor. I'm more interested in safe and reliable than maximum possible speed.

I've got the 5.5 bullet connectors installed, the upgraded OSE dual intake rudder, upgraded flex cable and collet, aftermarket Teflon sleeve, x645 prop (balanced and sharpened of course) so now I just need to set up the ESC and take it for a few tuning runs to get the trim tabs/battery placement and strut/rudder adjustments fine tuned.:bounce:

Thank you for your assistance.....

Mike

#1 = 6S

#2 = Not sure what your asking. Sounds like question 1. Or are you asking how to wire it?

# 3 = 3.2 lvc good safe spot but might only use 1/2 the pack. Weird on the 180esc's like that. 3.0 will drain packs 100% of their mAh rating. Best to time your runs if using 3.0 setting so you don't run them that low.

#4 = 15 deg

I was just wondering if the settings for the ESC would be any different when running 2 - 6s batteries in parallel or running 2 - 3s batteries in series. I know the ESC sees the same voltage, just curious if any settings should be different.

Thanks for your help.

No, same 6S setting

2 x 3S in series is 6S (series doubles voltage)
2 x 6S in Parallel is 6S (parallel doubles capacity)

Hope you get to run it soon.

Thats kinda what I figured, just wanted to be sure. I just got 2 - 6s Turnigy 6000mah lipos and they JUST BARELY fit under the cowling. That should give some mega run time off these bad boys. My Leopard 4082 1600kv should arrive any day now, then I get to see what she'll do. :rockon2: Now I'm curious to see if replacing the teflon liner and flex cable with aftermarket helps avoid the stuffing tube heating up on the 645 prop. Guess we'll see.:thumbup1:
