Does anyone have any experience with this setup? ESC is cool to touch but motor is 140F. Prop is Y537/3blade. Ran very good, 44mph with some wah wah, but good. Maybe two blade would draw fewer amps (maybe 640/642 prop)??? This is all done on 2s 25C 5800 X2. Would love to hear from you guys.

Thanks

What's your timing at? Feigao's run good around 7.50* on seaking's... Feigao's run kinda hot, but with that small of a prop your 1600kv motor shouldn't be that hot. Check for binding also.

is this when you hit lipo cut off or just a short run? 140 is a little warm but should not cause any problems. I've read 175ish is about the hottest you want a brushless motor and you are still quite a ways under. That is warmer then I'd expect with that prop though.

I agree with diesel, try out your timing, see what that does.

Thanks guys for the input. This was about a four minute run mostly full throttle. Did not hit the lipo cutoff. The timing is set to 15'. Will try lowering it to 7.5. Also, it might be the water jacket. Its only about 1 1/2" long. Got one from a buddy that is 2 3/8" long. thats got to help alot. Will keep you updated with progress.

Diesel6401, I figured you would be offering up some good advise. Let me ask another question. When sizing up a motor, what is the benefit of the lower KV motors on 6S? If your goal is to reach approximately 30k rpm, do you get more torque with lower kv motor and higher rpm on 6s vs higher kv motor on 4s? Or does it affect the amp draw?

Just trying to figure this all out before I break the bank.

Thanks again guys. Frank

The lower kv higher voltage motor will provide more torque and less amp draw while offering the same unloaded rpm...

Thanks Diesel. That is what I was looking for. What voltage do you use for your calculations to determine rpm (unloaded, loaded)? 4s = 16volts, 6s = 24 volts

Honestly I try to use both 3.7v & 4.20v per cell to get a unloaded rpm range.

This will help you:

what kind of packs do you have?

using 4s2p my bats (turnigy 5000 20-30c) had a min voltage close to 15 after a 5 or so min run.

using 4s2p nanotech 5000 25-45 they sagged to low 14's

I have always used the nominal voltage of the packs in question. Unloaded rpm only tells you so much.

A feigao 10xl shouldnt be getting that hot. I use a 540 8xl on 4s in my geico with a x640 and x642 with very good results. I havent gps'd it yet, but its much faster than stock.

Steven I have that same motor with and using an m445. What kind of difference would I see with the x640 or x642. I was running the x642 on 5s stock setup and then went to the m445 on stock setup and it blew the esc.

Sorry I didnt do enough testing, just tested the x642. I'm using a aquacraft ul-1 esc. I put about 3 sets of packs in it and so far so good.
