like everyone of you who owns this boat, it need more speed and also getting rid of the wah wah.

so i did the following

1) off set rudder ( this works no bluff )
2) change the esc so i can run a bigger motor - seaking 180 is my choice
3) a little bigger prop ( grim racer 42x55 )
4) 2 p lipo .. 4500 x 2 ( i need the weight )
5) motor 1 buggy tenshock 1900kv finned motor with leopard 40mm water jacket( and lots of glue to stick it)
6) bigger tubes for water cooling

so how it went? awesome .. maybe in the high 40s mph and very stable to drive.

love this boat to the bits!

over the weekend i had the chance to try out mysetup with a gps and also a H5 prop.

this time the boat was also stable and clocked 49.7mph ..but after 3mins... the 4mm bullet on the motor melted!!!!

sigh.. back to the drawing board again.

If that is what youre running then its not a suprise youre getting alot of amp draw and resistance. Thats a pretty aggressive prop. Switch to 5.5 bullets and disconnect the BEC... that'll get rid of some heat going through it. Otherwise you'll have to prop down. Nice to see the speed though... thats on 4s right?

You could prop down from the H5 too... better to go down then up rather Up...melt... then down! lol

you can detounge quite a bit of material off that 42x55 and i believe it should help bring amp draw down a little since the motor wont have as much load getting up on plane. Haven't done it to mine yet but i have word from someone who knows what he is doing.

That will absolutely lower the amps and if done right, will help with the overall speed. But whatever prop he is using... if its still melting or bringing alot of heat to a 5.5 connection then gotta prop down. Try the 5.5 bullets first!

thanks for the advise

i will not run the H5 anymore on the geico. grim racer 42x55 is nice and cool

yes will switch to the 5.5mm this week.

and yes i run only 4s.. never 5 or even 6... as i have seen too many esc go up in smoke on 5 and 6s. 4s is fine.. my target is abt 50 mph which the geico hull is fun to drive with and no danger of a blow over.

fuse, keep us updated. I will be running my MG from may 8th in the 45-50 mph range. Running an 1800kv outrunner (CC) with turnigy 40-50c batteries on a seaking 120a. Not sure which prop to try yet.. I have an x642 and m445 sitting around.

Jac, throw the 445 on there. Should run great!

going to try it jack... got 2 weeks left of school then its a solid week of MG running. I'll start with the x642.. check the temps then throw on the m445. I bought a really neat laser temp gun that works suprisingly really well... its quite sweet.. I can't complain: http://cgi.ebay.com/Infrared-IR-Digital-Thermometer-Temperature-Laser-Gun-/200541338747?pt=LH_DefaultDomain_0&hash=item2eb131fc7b

I was going to run 5s but I think that my setup should keep me somewhere around 45 and thats what I want... I like on a decent size lake so anything faster will get the boat in trouble but I need something that'll give me speed to pace/outrun speedboats.

that is what i've been running on my MG and it's my favorite prop at the moment. I liked the 642 when i had it, mad a poor decision on were to run it though and it ended up garbage. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=93ufEkudcKA I think the stock motor needs more prop then that though, but also a higher amperage esc.

pretty shallow/small stream there youre running in! ballsy!

I really like the way mine runs with a 48mm carbon prop so I have to order an x448. But for all around running with the Castle outrunner, the 45 is the ticket. x442 or 42x55 will yield 10 minutes of run time with 4s, 2p. I love having all these options with this boat and the 3424. It's a work horse!!

i like the 42x55 .. maybe need more rpm .. waiting for my ARC 36mm to see if it gonna hit the magic 50mph ... i need a stable 50mph boat and everything runs cool on 4s.

finally hit 53.4mph on 4s 2p nano 4000 packs on a tenshock 1900kv and H5 prop. testing was done using a ice hyda 240. very fast and stable.

Hello all, Is $310 for a new MG (latest shaft version) a better than average price? I asked my LHS if he would move on the price from $339. He said yes! There is probably a better place to post this question. Excellent FE boat fourm by the way.... Thanks for your input and double thanks for sharing your knowledge and experiences!

I listen, I learn, I buy
