I just made a deal on this 32" Catamaran, it is made for twin electric set-up!!:buttrock: I cant wait to see it in person...
The length is 32" and the width is 10"........
I might have to sell a boat or two!! Just to make space.. HAHAHA

Here are a couple pictures..

SO WHY FIGHT THE FELLING!! I am starting to really enjoy the building and set-ups, so many different options w/FE Boats... I really enjoy being a FE ADDICT!!:buttrock:

Got the hull in today! Here are a few pict's I took....... I like the look or lines on this hull... The hull is light! I will reinforce some areas with CF.... I think it will make a good platform for a Twin power setup....

looks really nice. Are you gonna run dual brushless motors? You could run HUGE motors and just build your own mounts.

Yes, I am going with twin-brushless motors.. Nothing HUGE will fit in this hull, it is very tight and shallow.. I will set it up first with 2/ Ammo 36-50-2300's or Ammo 36-50-1800's........ Hopefully I will get time this weekend to work on her!

No work yet, had other projects to complete.. Mabey I will start this weekend.. I have a Rudder, but have not decided on stingers yet?? Mabey the speedmaster stingers at OSE $39.99 each??

What hardware are you going with???

I was actually looking at the speedmaster stingers also.
I may use them as they are quite a bit cheaper than my other alternative which are the MTC Powertrimm V's which are @ $127 each.

The speedmaster also look a lot more realistic to me. I'd love a set of real looking arnesons... Maybe we can get LoneWolf to hook us up with some scale arnesons.

How were your hulls for straightness ?
warped at all ?
Any other quality issues ?

I was thinking about building one of these, I need a smaller, more portable cat !

Nathan

My hull is straight and unwarped... The only thing I can say is, its thin and will need a little CF for support.. Just my opinion...

I think that we are on the same page! But, it might be more $$ for Lonewolf to make something from scratch vs. the speedmaster stingers...

I think $80 for 2/speedmaster stingers is the ticket! The MTC's come in a PKG deal for $204... For that kind of bread, I will pass...

What rudder are you going with?

SJFE
02-15-2008, 10:29 PM
Keep in mind the speedmaster struts are ajusted from the top. Do you have room under the over hang for that? You maybe better off with custom or supervee struts. The SV struts will need mods also. Speedmaster stingers are always my first choice. It's nice to have the custom option as well. I will vouch for his work 100%. The product can always be sent back for more mods or ajustments.

Ahh what the heck, I've been looking at this thing for days !
I bought the bud select knock off.

Now to try to be sane with the power setup for once !

There are quite a few struts that look like they'll work, but how about a rudder that isn't the typical (ugly) L bracket style mounting ?
One that looks a little more scale with a "T" type mounting bracket ?

Nathan

on Sea Terrors speedmaster struts, i drilled a small hole over each adjustment allen head. have vinyl tape on outside underside and a stick roll up plug on inside. last time i adjusted them, i was able to do it from the backside by loosening side hardware and just turning the locknut in the direction it needed.

so far, i believe that 1/16th below neutral position is best ( for me )

It's terrible I know, but I may just put a single neu 1912-y in it with a 10s 3700mah pack.
This is supposed to be a "daily driver" so to speak, and I already have the power system to do this.
Besides, I'll have another, much larger, scale looking, twin motor cat ready to go soon !

No, I'll start a build thread when I get back home, I've been working on a remote location for a couple weeks now. It's in a box at home currently !
It's a drifter xl with twin pletti 370/50/A1S's, twin schulze 40/160's, BK drives, cat power rudder and will be run on 10s1p 25c 4350mah packs in a 10s4p configuration.
No good for the small man made lake near my house, that's where this smaller cat comes in !
I'll throw pictures of it up as well when it shows up, I'm curious what the paint/vinyl looks like up close.

UPDATE....:confused2:

I changed my mind on the motor.. I went ahead and put in a Hacker 8XL that I had laying around... I have a HTX120 esc to put in as well...... First, I will run it on 4S lipo with CF40mm prop.......:spy:

I should have it done by Monday night.. I ran out of 20 min. epoxy..

I figure, I will try this hull in a single first.. If it works well, I will buy another and build a TWIN....:rockon2:

Here are a couple pict's.....

Nathan, this thing is light!! Even with Hacker 8XL, HTX120esc and hardware... I will put it on the scale later today... I will put in a couple 4S lipos when I weight it...

I am thinking I will run it on 2/ 2S1P packs in series... And try 2/ 4S1P packs in parallel....

I think it will hit 40-45mph easy.... Mabey even 45+ with the right prop and CG....

Yeeharacing
02-17-2008, 05:06 PM
I'm still researching my build as of right now I'm thinking twin 10xl motors and either speedmaster struts or some other setup.

txboatpilot
02-17-2008, 05:10 PM
I put her on the Digital Scale, came out to 3LB 2.8OZ...
That is RTR except, receiver, lipos, and rec. battery(optional)...
With 2/ 2S1P 4000mAh 25C packs, she weighs 4LB 1.6OZ...

For comparison, I put the SV27 Stock except OSE t-tabs.... 3LB 4.6OZ w/out lipos
With the same 2/ 2S1P packs it is 4LB 3.0oz................

My SV has no problem doing 40+mph...

Now I think with the Hacker 8XL and 40-45mm prop, 50+ will not be a problem!!!

I have 2/ Fiegao 9XL's I thought about trying... I think 2/ 10XL's would work great also.. :thumbup1:
I think another good set-up would be 2/ 36-56-2600 Ammo motors.. Just run 3S1P on each motor.... Nice light set-up....:spy:

I think the hull is made from a lightweight polyester, a thin thread and leads to less rigidity. Rule of thumb is the thicker the thread, the more strength and stiffness.

Scott, you are right on the money!!!:iagree: That is exactly what it is...

I have reinforced many areas with fiberglass sheet (thicker thread) and 20min. epoxy... I will reinforce more with carbon fiber sheet.....:spy:

I did not go crazy with the glass.. I used some under the motor aera, stuffing tube area and were the servo mounts is...Also ran long strips down the sides, were the hull joins together..

It is hard to see in the picture, the epoxy still has that wet look...

I have plenty of water jackets, I just want to try the coil once... For the first 30sec to 1min. run it will be NO PROBLEM!! That is a Hacker 8XL in there, not a Fiegao...

Yeeharacing, how is yours coming along?

I'm still accumulating parts.
She's kind of back burner at the moment, I'm trying to get my Mean Machine in the water first. I'm hoping it will ship this coming week to me. It's in paint right now.

I've worked out a deal for the scale rudder but I'm looking for more information on the speedmaster struts. I've been doing alot of measuring.

I'm going with Feigao or Nemesis 10xl twins, two hydra 120's /240's if I have the money.

I already have a spektrum dx3 system with two rx.
So radio equipment is set.

Took it for the first test run yesterday, ran with 2/7.4V 4350mAh 25C PolyQuest lipos, she hit 44.3mph on the gps and was nice and stable...:thumbup1: I can say it does not turn as well as my Mean Machine, but I did not expect it too!! It was a blast to drive!

First 30sec. run, all electronics and lipos came in under 90deg...

Temps after 2min. were 102deg. on HTX120 and 107deg. Hacker 8XL (first run was with alm. coil for cooling motor)... The lipos were 112deg.
