Just finished this build and it is without a doubt my favorite boat so far.

Feigao 10L
Swordfish 120 esc
3s 4200ma
x440

This was the first run straight off the bench, CG is 1 1/4" from sponson with the strut set at neutral and the bottom of the hull level with a flat surface. I'm very pleased with this hull and how stable it is.

If I get bored down the road I have a 8XL 4s 5000ma set up I can throw in it, but for now I'm happy.

That is a cool little boat! I thought about trying one on 2S if my DarkHorse ever gives out.

Thanks, the quality of the hull is great and really easy to set up. It's funny you mention 2S. I was going to make this a 2S set up originally, but I had four 3S packs not being used.

Thanks

The turn fin is from the Proboat Miss Bud/ Miss Elam. It's not very big, but seems to be working great.

My last hydro I used the aquacraft turn fin(kind of big)but didnt seem to slow the boat down. I'm going to try no turn this time around, cause I'm going with an outboard on the DF 24".:confused2: Your build looks great and it moves like its light on the water.

Just try and keep the transom as light as possible. It might be hard to get the CG right with a outboard hanging off the back.

I have no experience with the outboards but what I am doing is making an adaptor plate with holes that match my mini strut hardware on the hydro, and the other to match the outboard(just in case).
Its a wild idea presented by a friend and if anything its going to be a learning experience.

Lipdaddy, What kind of speed are you getting with the 10L?? I am running the 6XL Competition wound and getting 50mph with my 22"DF Vortex. 3s 4500mah,180 amp esc, 640 prop.

I don't have a GPS so I really don't know. I like this set up alot, it's reliable and fast enough for me.

An outboard?! Probably not a good idea. It surely isnt going to turn well, especially with no turn fin.

Its been awhile since I've messed with the DF hydro but I have built the adapter and have the outboard ready. The more I think about it, it will probably end up with an inboard in it.

i think you'll be happier with an inboard.

Hi Vortex 22" fans

can I ask some advise for a motor for the Vortex Hydro 22"

I have the boat built but just need to decide on the motor
I would like to run on 1 x 3s 4500Mah Turnigy Nano lipo
I have two spare motors to use and not sure what one would be the quickest
any advise appreciated and idea of speed and prop size?

ETTI 150A ESC

bellow are the motors I have and the specs

Leopard 4 pole 2860 3400KV brushless motor 3 turn D wind

Specification:
Max voltage: 17V
Max Amp:80A
Max power: 1300W
RPM: 3400KV/volt
Resistance: 0.0098
Non-load current(7.4V): 2.5A
Diameter: 28mm
Length(excluded shaft): 64mm
Weight: 176 gm

Turnigy 36/56Kv: 2600rpm/v
Power: 475W
Turns: 4

I would go with the Turnigy 36/56 2600kv on 3s. It would be a similiar set up to what I'm running in the 24". It will be a rockett in a 22" hull.

As for a prop. I just ran mine today with a Grim 38X55L and I liked it better than my X440. You should have no problem swinging either one and would be a good start.

I keep telling myself I'm going to throw in a Feigao 8XL and 4S, but I have a hard time changing out a good set up that works really well. Who knows, maybe one day.

Im not sure about te 1 3s. I had that on a Pica 22" plastic hull running a 2881kv motor and Kept puffing batts. I agree with lipdaddy and would suggest using the set-up calulator at OSE, You can play with the numbers with your setups and get the best prop/power setup and get an approximate speed with a 640 prop 3s 2p 2 160 amps. I found this after my 22' DF was setup and with my Eagle Tree E-Logger confirmed what the calulator figured, 50MPH. Changing the pitch obviously will effect the RPM and the load on your system. I want to see if I can back off on the pitch and raise the RPM while lightening the load will I get the same speed, That Calculator will tell me.

Really nice! What kind of hardware (rudder etc.) are you running?

lipdaddy

All the hardware was bought from OSE. Speedmaster .21 flat bottom strut, ose-80052 rudder, proboat hydro turn fin. I'm now running a 8 XL on 4S, 120 swordfish esc and a grim 38x63L prop. This boat is a rocket and probably my favorite.

Perfect Ryan. Many thanks!

I have some left-overs from my SV27 project, so I could "recycle" some parts.

Speedmaster. I think it might be a ministrut.
