Just recevied a Delts Force Vortex 24" today and man what a nice hull to start with.
I'm looking for advice on the build(motor and rudder placement). I'm going to decommission my OSE Raider for the hardware motor and electrics. The motor is a gold aquacraft 2300 kv? and the esc is the 60amp aquacraft.
I know its not going to break any speed records but the funfactor will be there, cant wait to see how this hull will perform.

Going to the lake today and hopeing someone will have a 16" vortex, so I can get an idea for hardware placement.

I have a 22" and now a 24" DFVortex The 22 has a Feigao 540 6xl running a 3s2p w/ 640 prop that is doing 50+ mph almost to much for the boat but fun.
The 24 setup will be running a Leopard 4082 running a 4s2s w/ a CASTLE Hydra Ice 200 and the plan is to run props from 640-645 which should give me 65mph.
The system calculator on OSE is real cool and helpful.

a 4082 in a a 24" vortex!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! holy crapoly batman!!:sinking-guy:

I have a 22" running a 1700kv outrunner m440 prop 4s1p 30-40c 4500mah doing 45mph and can run the full length of the mah and not get hot, good solid runner.

This should give you an idea of harware placement

I'll be checking out your build. :thumbup1: Good luck and thanks for sharing:Peace_Sign:
I have one of these hulls in red that I will be building at some point.

My 22 is running 2871kv. I run it for about 7min. I do a cool down lap after a few speed laps and have never gotten HOT. I also ran with my Eagle Tree E-Logger and the report was a bit shocking. 48.9 MPH in somewhat poor contitions 164 amps @23K RPM pushing the limits of my 180amp esc I think I can get just over 50 mph but thats about it with the motor.
My 24 is red also, I painted the cowling area to the nose white this morning and am ready to install my strut and rudder brkts. Still waiting for the motor ,MMM and prop

What exactly do you mean by cool down lap?

Thats what I call it, letting the water smooth out for a couple of hot passes since the boat is on ragged edge.

This is a great hull.

here's a link to one I built.

Runs nice! might want to move the CG a bit farther forward.

Your right Boaterguy, there is a second video on the Hansen Dam Violators dock talk fourm and it is obvious that it needs the cg a little further forward(starts to dance). It was a great first run besides breaking the antenna on the tx which cut my range to about 200', I'm impressed with this hull after abandoning the ose raider 24"(I just could not figure that one out).

Looks like it has lots of power, great job! I have my CG at 1/2"- 3/4" behind the sponson and it handles great.

What are you guys running for a speed control. I have a hydra ice 240 I was considering using but its rather large. I am going to run 4s2s and need something to support that. I am on hold with this build till I get my water jacket from OSE.

Brian.

I went with a aquacraft 60 amp esc and the gold 1800kv motor and 2 (2s) lipos, I may want more in the future but this is fine for now. I think the 240 is overkill but if its what you have use it(these are hard times brother, money is tight).

I am going to run 4s2s with a leopard 4082 and need a HV esc and with these hard times I was going to use what I have with the Hydra Ice 200. Its just that its so long and will take up alot of room. I can shove it all the way into the nose and be ok I think. May try looking for a used HV esc.

The Delta Force seems to like the the weight forward, I'd try it.

I use a Swordfish 120, it fits in the nose just right. I couldn't imagine anything bigger. Things start getting tight once you add your motor, esc and batteries. I run a 3s 2200 (ran in parallel) in each sponson, but a 2s 5000 will fit.

I am in need of a HV ESC, something that will support 4s2s or up to 8 cells. Used would work if I could find one.
I am still waiting for my waterjacket, its taking forever.........

You talk about hard times, but you have a $330 Hydra Ice? OSE sells a Swordfish 120 that's in the seventy something dollar range.

I got the Hydra ice for $240 about 2 months ago for my 1/8 scale and have run low on hobby money. I am trying to spend it wisely because I still need batts. The Swordfish will only support 6s I am wanting to run 4s.

It's 2-6s. It will work more than well enough for your application.

Just ready to try out my Delta Force Vortex 24"
I thing I may need to change the motor from the one pictured its a 3656 2600kv I was going to run on a single 3s 4500Mah but not sure if this will be any good,
I think I would be better running on a 3665 2300kv on 4s
looking to break in the 50 mph club
any recommendations!
the esc is an eti 150A looking for a motor to max the esc out without blowing it
and hopefully get in to the 50mph club

Do you think that a single 3s lipo and 3s motor could get me 50 mph+ or would this be only possible on a 4s setup?
it just looks like a 2s or 3s boat to me and seems to get to way to heavy adding 4s setups
but what do I know!

Boaterguy

4S is probably the limit for a 24" hydro, but you would have more power to push a bigger boat with a 4S setup.
do you not have the stuff that's in there? or are these older pics?

It's as it is, fresh pictures today
I would be up for buying a new motor if needed

I dont think you can get 50 mph with a 3s setup. Have you tried the speed calc on this site?? It will get you a speed for your setup and you can play with the #s , props, and batts. I have a 22" DF Vortex with a Feigao 6XL, 3s2p, 640 prop and got 49.87 mph in not so favorable conditions. I then found and used the calc. input my setup and it came up with 50mph. My 24 DF Vortex will be running a Leopard 4082 1000kv, 4s2s the calc. came up with 65mph with a 645 prop and 78mph with a 670 prop. Now I dont know if I can pull the load, I will be working up to those speeds with the help of my Eagle Tree logger to see what the system is pulling. The 24 build is in progress awaiting a waterjacket and batts.

Haven't posted for awhile but will post some pictures soon. Having alot of fun with the hydro, it really likes to run (2) 2s 5300 gen ace lipos. Maybe I'll post another video from this comming weekend and gps it for speed.

I ran mine last weekend with a 10L on 4s and it was ballistic! Changed out the 10L with a 8XL for a little lower KV and a little more weight. Going to try it this weekend.

I like the Grim 38x55L the best so far. Anything bigger and it might as well be an airplane lol. Hitting the water first thing in the morning.

Hope it goes well, Keep it flying on the water, not the air.
I have never used grim props. I am somewhat new and have used only Octura , dont know of advantage or disadvantage at this point. Planning on running a x645. According to the OSE calc I should get 65 mph with current system setup. I will post pics when I get home, out of town now and my esc has been shipped(Fightercat) so build will start Tues.

Sorry for the poor quality. This is with a 8XL on 4s 5000mah and 38X55L prop. It's very stable and alot of fun.

Wow!!! That was a stable running boat. Do you know the speed or have a guess? What brand of batts are you using and what is the C rating? I am planning on buying the 35c 5000 for mine from hobby king.I ran into another snag with my build, I got my fightercat esc and the size was a bit more than expected so I am having a removable motor mount machined tonight ( so I can remove esc) I will then set everything in it place and check it again then bond MM in place. I do have to get my batts ordered this week. My dummy batts will suffice for now.

I have a Venom Miss Excite which is the same as the 24 and I love it.
I'm running a Novak 4.5hv on 2s2p and it runs the same speed as a UL1 motor on 4s

The boat runs in the 50mph range
Solid runner for its size actually amazing.

I seen a guy on youtube running one at about 80 lol!
