I really like my ul1 motor, I wouldn't go more then 2300 kv on 4s but that is just me, some run more then that, but heat becomes an issue.

here is mine with a t120 ul1 and m445 prop. Was still figuring out battery placement in this video. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=FafgQb7cP5M

Sometimes when you make a motor swap/prop swap the setup (strut) angle or depth may needed re-adjusted for the new motor rpm or prop. Point is whats dialed in with your current setup, may/may not be dialed in with your new setup.

very true but i guess my point behind that was now i know that i dont need the offset rudder for this hull to run smoothly... which frankly, i never thought than would fix it in the first place. especially since the designer of the hull said that it just needed to be adjusted out.

wat do you reccomend diesel?

I assume you are talking about Darin and he was one of the first ones to come up with a stand off rudder mod.

Fixing the bounce with strut adjustments is possible I have done it as well. A good setup I had was a PB1800 kv stock esc and a grim 40x52/3 adjusted with no bounce with stock inline rudder.

Currently I am running a CC 1800kv outrunner stock esc and a grim 42x55. I did switch to the Kintec V2 offset though. Personally I like the offset and it actually does work by allowing the rudder to get out of the way of prop wash. I like this boat setup for sport running so I am very happy low to mid 40s (mph) on 4s with my current setup. What are goals? You want all out speed or a decent sport boat? That will determine what motor selection. The ul1 motor is a nice upgrade and would run well with your grim 42x55 on 4s1p or you can get crazy and throw a CC1515 2200kv or leopard 4074 2200kv and go to a 4s2p setup.

Pure speed:
CC1515 2200kv (4s2p) - m445 / x445 / prather 220
Leopard 4074 2200kv (4s2p) - m445 / x445 / prather 220

Sport:
UL1 motor - grim 42x55 / x442
Leopard 4074 1774kv - m445
CC1512 1800kv - m445 / grim 42x55
SV27R motor - grim 42x55
PB Stiletto motor - grim 42x55

* Just throwing around some options off the top of my head. This is barley scratching the surface on possible combinations.

im just wanting to do sport. i mean i want it to haul, but i also want to get decent run times and have reliable power and in general just be reliable. u think it would be ok to run the UL-1 motor on the stock esc? or should i just get another esc?

I run my stock motor with a T-180 esc and a prather ss 230 prop that was balanced and sharpened by dasboata on 5s1p and I'am really happy with it. The boat flies with this setup but I have not GPS the top speed but it seems like it's pushing low 50 mph but I'am estimating speed. I get four minute run times and temps are fine. I have also run this set up on the M445 and had a blast with cool temps and good run time. If you experienced FE boaters think these set ups are dangerous for my stock motor on 5s let me know but so far it's been a blast.

prob should get a 60a esc for ul-1 but they say the 45aesc is underrated.....my motto is run it till it breaks.....i ran the pb 1800kv motor on a 45amper and had no prob at all......

Darin is working on trying 6s on a MG motor :w00t:
5s I think is no problem at all for the stock motor
