Too much motor for that little guy.

This is goig to be a little OT, and please don't take offense but why are you so hell bent on running 6s? 1500 on 6s is turning virtually the exact same rpm as your 2200 on 4s. Which means with the same prop you will see NO difference in top speed between the 2 setups. You've still got a lot of speed left to find in your current setup. I remember reading that you left your strut as it came out of the box, which means there's speed to gain there by adjusting that correctly. Then there's the prop. With how low your temps were you've got plenty of room to prop up. Try the 220, that prop is good for 40 on the stock motor which is turning almost 30% less rpm than your setup. The fact you're only getting 47 while turning such a significant amount more rpm means there is probably something wrong with your setup. Read the race prep thread then go out for a test n tune session.

My $.02 sell your 3s batts to your spartan friend and stock up on 2s(or 4s for 4s2p) and find the limits of your current setup through tuning.

That's good advice and I've already talk to him about doing exactly that... I guess I just like to push things to the extreme. My original plan was to run 5s never really to touch 6s maybe just to see how fast it would go. Granted a bigger motor with lower kv can swing a bigger prop. There are a lot of ways to make it faster as you stated strut angle prop size ect... I would love to find the happy medium to run a 5s setup to reach mid 50's that to me would be ideal. With the setup I got not sure if it can be done?

I'm not nearly as well versed in FE as a lot of the guys around here but I'd guess your current setup is good for well into the 50's once you get it dialed in. I mean if Darin can get the stock motor on 4s to 50 you better be in the mid 50s at least. All you need to do is dial in your setup and get the right prop. Oh and you'll have to think about keeping the MG from taking flight at that speed... that's where 4s2p can be useful too. The extra weight helps keep it planted.

I agree with PDR447. There is alot of tuning to do. Throwing more voltage at a improperly setup boat will lead to very bad things. That 2200kv motor you should running into the 50s with the proper setup. I have that exact motor in a 33" mono and it pushes it good. That CC1717 would be complete overkill inthat boat. Your cat is 29" I am running a CC1717 in a 40" mono.

:iagree:
Good tuning can get more speed without getting a monster motor to get the same speed on the wrong tune
