Nice, I just picked one up too. Going with the GEICO theme. What is going to be your setup?

Then i lay a carbon twill 225gr/m2, inside the hull.
It takes me about three days, trying to do my best.
And...

Looks good to me! I think I am going to put fiberglass, may use carbon fiber. Haven't decided yet. Good luck with the build and keep the updates on the progress coming.

Thank you tunnelvision.
Next step : COG control, and installation of motor mounts.

I have already 2 x Leopard 3674, 1900 rpm/V, and i'm waiting for the ESC's, 2x180A.
I think that on 5s, maybe it will be better a couple of x442. (L/R)
Stinger shaft: 4mm, flex cable : 3.2 mm.

Looks great nikos! I think the combo you have chosen (1900kv @ 5s w/x442's) is perfect. I have a similar boat.
This should be a fast and fun boat.

About 24cm from the sponson transom for COG should work well. That's where I've got mine set.

Good to see HOR has the new hull stock. These are the updated hulls which seem to handle better at higher speeds than their predecessors.

I run a pair of K45's for sport. Cheap repair in case of turtle incident. :spy:

It was the first run for my new twin cat, and i am very happy.
I try : 2 x 4s, 2 x 442 (L/R).
Everything, cool. Everything, dry.

My next run maybe will be with a pair of 1,4 x 43,5mm (R/R) !!!, or 445 (R/L).
Enjoy the sunrise in Greece through the next video.
Thank to all of you.

Hi, Maker.
The total cost is about 600-700 USD, (!!!). :crying::crying::crying:
(Hull, batteries, motors, ESC's, hardware, carbon fiber, etc...)

...but it was realy nice and interest the whole construction.

Looks good and a beautiful pic as well. Why not leave the x442's on and run on 5s? Wasn't that your original plan? Those x442's will hook a lot harder on 5s:thumbup1:

Yes. That's true keithbradley.
The first plan was 2 x 442, on 5s. I haven't change that.
But i like to try a pair of R/R props to see the way that it runs,
and i think that it's better to do that on 4s.

Are you gonna change out the complete flex cable and everything? If your current setup is L/R props, then I'm assuming you are using an L/R flex cable as well.

Hi kookie_guy.
Yes, of course. I use a pair of L/R props, with a pair of L/R flex cables too.
Except my usual, I have some of flex cables for clockwise rotation props.

Hi Nikos222,

Very nice build to be sure, I like the equip setup and very clean job on the carbon fiber.

I have one on order and will start the build in the next week or so

Also, I noticed a bit of hoping (some refer to it as the "Porpoise Effect") at top speed.
I'll be interested to hear how you adjust for this (I've seen this same hull run perfectly in other videos)?

Regards,

Thomas

Move the COG forward and the porpoising should stop. I have a good number for ya; 24cm from the sponson transom. :cool2:

Dreaded EMS express is late again... Hope to have everything out very soon. They're late by a week!

That looks really nice. How exactly do you do that? Does it involve any prep work? Or do I you just put down some resin/epoxy and carefully lay down the carbon fiber? :confused2: Thanks. :Peace_Sign:

nikos222

Hi nosreme722.
First of all, you have to clean the surface and make it "wild" before lay the carbon fiber.
A very important point is the pre-measurement of carbon fiber pieces.
You have to see before you set the epoxy, the place of each one.
I use an 24h epoxy, so i can fix the carbon and the resin, as mindfully as i want.
But it's difficult to remove it when you have put down the epoxy.

I prefer to lay the carbon fiber first and then put down the resin.
Quite slowly. This way allows you to make your facing without enclose air bubbles.

I hope to help you. Good luck nosreme722.

...not so calm sea, not so calm brain too.:biggrin::biggrin:

I fit the stingers straight with the sponsons, but the little wave
don't allow me to see more about the seaway.

I call the next video : Dancing cat.
Mind at 1:27", 2:54" and 3:42" and you 'll see.

I have to move the COG forward as FighterCat57 wrote.
I hope that this will be my final trim.

not very fixable, i feel your pain
now I would like to say some words:
This cat was a very nice woman, she lived like no other, bouncing around and hitting very high speeds and then, all of a sudden:Sinking::sinking-guy:
