I've been away since last summer, new lady and new baby on the way! I managed to hang on to my boats and I'm ready to go at it again. I've still got my Triton hull with the 10xl on 16 cells, hacker 70, 1.33/1 gears and an x645 prop. Top speed on gps was 39.1 last fall. I just finished an Aeromarine Mean Machine I started last fall running a 12xl on 24 cells, hacker 77, 1.33/1 gears starting out with a graupner 1.4x40 prop. still waiting to get this one in the water, will post results when I do! Glad to be back!

nice job. I love working with the Mean Machine hulls. SOOOOO much room inside and plenty of access to it!

Do you have to run gear reduction in that hull? What are the motor requirments?

A gear drive isn't a must, but with the many gearing options it allows for fine tuning once I've made a final prop choice. Depending on the weight of the boat (how many cells) I think anywhere from a 10xl to a 14xl would be a good choice. With 24 cells the weight is just over 7lbs, maybe too much weight for the 10xl on direct drive. My decisions on this were based largely on my experience with the Toysport Triton using a gear drive with a 10 xl on 16 cells. That hull is fast, stable (even in the turns at wot) and very reliable with that setup.

Thanks for the tech on the hulls. You have a couple really nice boats there. I am on the fence about my next boat. Every time I think I have my mind made up I see another setup that I like and looks to work good. Both of yours included.

Thanks much for the compliment SJFE, I'm real impressed with the looks and performance of your blackjack and sv too! I hope to have some video of my boats if it ever stops raining here! BTW Jersey is my home state, I was born in Plainfield. Maybe there are more FE guys there then here, I think I'm the only one in Iowa, so I can relate to your quote about smokin' the nitro guys!

Here's a clip of the triton from last year, with 1.48/1 gears. gps was 35.6, I hope to get video of it since changing to 1.33/1. I'll post as soon as I get it!

Very nice setups. I am finishing up a re-build "winter project" on my mean machine. Will have pics soon. Steve is right, lots of room to work with inside these hulls, makes it easier.
