Hi

I just got myself a new hull (MHZ Shockwave M). Does someone have any hardware to recommend for a boat like this? I am planning to run this with Leopard 2860 / 2730KV on 2s and 3s. Sport driving.

being such a narrow hull it will turn better both ways if you off set the rudder even just 1/2-3/4" to the starboard. I have one with the KOS P1 hardware (which is perfect size) that is inline - but there is a way to make a little plate and off set the rudder w/o adding more holes to the transom. the problem with inline is that at speed it won't turn left because the rudder is aligned with the propwash, and it will hook right pretty hard as the prop wash hits it square on. you just need the rudder out of the cone and to the starboard side is the best because you don't have to move it as far away to get it out of the cone.

great little boat, pretty susceptible to torque roll. I put my motor as far forward as possible and then the batteries behind - that way you can shift the batts to port and try to counteract torque roll as much as possible. I am amazed how well it handles going fast too... I bet I have had mine over 40 (fast for something this size). I have a very similar KV motor in mine, perfect size - I am pretty sure mine is an ammo 2300kv 36-50, so yours should be a bit hotter.

here is one of my first runs (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=xZ7KAz9_Q2U) before inline rudder.
here is video (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=UwdzTeVZc64)before her makeup.

Thanks Jesse. Thats sound great, but where can I buy this hw? My plan is to put motor in front and battery behind. What kind of setup do you have? And what is your cg?

you can probably order a KOS P1 from Venom (http://www.venom-group.com/itemdesc.asp?ic=1816)(looks like parts retail for $60) or put up an add in the WTB section. You may also be able to use Fullers (http://cgi.ebay.com/6-12-Cell-MONO-3-16-Water-Pickup-Wedge-Rudder-Hardware-/120374902503?pt=Radio_Control_Parts_Accessories&hash=item1c06e73ee7)offset or Octura (http://www.offshoreelectrics.com/proddetail.php?prod=oct-oc6str-130da)- it doesn't need much rudder.

I will get back to your questions.

I see there is an octura offset set up for $35 - would work perfectly for this boat....

I see you already posted the link to the octura strut. I probably go for Octura.

It is in the swap shop, here (http://forums.offshoreelectrics.com/showthread.php?t=22559). Looks to be the same! you will need a flex shaft (http://www.offshoreelectrics.com/proddetail.php?prod=oct-oc130L-24c) for it though.

Thanks Jesse for the help. I bought Octura from OSE. Looks like that will be a nice fit with Shockwave.
