just picked up a traxxas spartan. when the lakes become free of ice here in northern michaign, I'll be looking to get my game on. are there any (most have) parts i should get before spring gets here. should i get 3ell lipo batts or 2 cell?

i heard bad things about 6s in that boat, what about 2 5s in parallel and not worry so much about 50mph, 40mph can be heart pounding if your just getting in to boats

I would invest in a $57 3674, 1700kv Tacon 4pole motor that would slide right in to the stock cooling jacket and run it on 4S. That thing would scoot with a nice size prop. But if you want to run it on 6S they also make a 1300kv motor that you could probably prop higher and get more run time out of. That's what I would do with one of those boats.

I have seen them run and without the trim tabs, they run very well. I will pick up a bare hull and build it out when ever Tower gets them in stock.

I agree with Alexgar, i think the Spartan motor falls in an odd zone...............its really a 5s motor............that would be perfect for it.

Run 2 of these in parallel.

AND all of this.............. http://forums.offshoreelectrics.com/forumdisplay.php?f=60

*Guys are having A LOT of problems with that boat, so before you jump into 6s. I would start 4s & 5s on stock. I personally think 6s is too high rpm on that motor and the prop is too big on 6s. If you want to run 6s drop the prop down JMO
