I finally did it. After installing my new strut and offset rudder setup this week I made it back out to the pond this afternoon. It took me a few runs, but I was finally able to get the strut in the right spot. The first few runs were in the 45.9-46.6 range. I recharged the batteries, tweaked it a bit more, and was rewarded with a 49.4. I changed to my older trinity batteries shortly after they came off the charger and I was able to run 51.9 mph.

I am still running the x642 prop right now. I am going to try a couple of more props, so hopefully I can find a little more speed.

Almost forgot, thanks to Treystoys for answering my questions on the conversion of the the drive hardware!

Haha...thanks...I guess I've gotta play catchup now. Good job...are you running the strut parellel with the running surface...in other words if the hull was sitting flat on a table, is the strut set flat on the table also? Thats where mine is as we speak...been playing with props first before I start messing with strut angles.

Again, nice work!

Trey

give me a few and I will get a pic of the gps and the hardware. Trey, if I am not mistaken I actually of the strut up just above parallel.

RC prince, I am going to have to say at this point, it will probably take another prop, or lipos, I don't know that there is that much speed left in this combo. but who knows.

Is this a new OSE Rule?

Correction.... (so that you can get it passed easier SJFE)

True we just need a Kodak moment....Obrien you doing that with 14 nimhs...wow...I gave up on the nimh, because I think I killed mine...so I run lipos Castle hasn't sent my 110HV back yet so, I'm now running that New 60amp HV(50 volts) Electrifly Esc I love it, with the exception i can't get it to run with out holding the brakes at neutral it goes to half throttle. I converted it to look like Steve Jeti conversion...It looks the same except the mosfets are the newer lower profile ones http://www.offshoreelectrics.com/info-pages/images/Jeti_advance_90_6.JPG

The sv will come around. He just has some other priorities at the moment. I think I will start working with him on his props to see what we can do. He burned up some batteries the other day, so he may be out for a little bit.

Cool, I think the Sv will top out at around 50 , the BJ might be able to hit 60...just my thoughts

Thanks Dom. I want to get another 642 to tweak because I would hate to mess this one up as well as it works. lol

You may very well be right Prince, its just a matter of time and tweaking. With the way the BJ was running today, as long as there is no wind to help with blowovers, I would say there is room left for more speed. If the boat starts getting too flighty I can just start moving the batteries forward a little at a time.

I pretty much did the same thing to an x445. Haven't tried it out yet.
But I do want to try it on a x640.

Hey guys...I've got a few 642s that I had cut down to run on mmy 12 cell rigger years ago, and they were cut very similar to what you've done. The prop I have on the boat now, but haven't run yet is a 1640...somewhat similar to the cut props but with rounded ears. Just wanted to try it out. It was in my prop box, sharpened and balanced already, so it can't hurt. I also have a P747 that I may play with a bit too...somewhat of a cleaver style blade but has part of the trailing edge cut to reduce some transom lift...it may be a bit too much diameter, but if it works well enough I'll cut it down too 45 then 42mm if need be. I'm off tomorow, so if the weather cooperates, I'll try and get a few runs in. I'm like obrien, I wanna push the envelope on 12 nihms...I'm at 48.6mph with an uncut 642 so far, so we'll see what happens.

obrien, what hardware are you using on the back?

obrien
12-27-2007, 09:14 AM
the strut and bracket was from fullers. The rudder is the speedmaster mini rudder from OSE.

Trey I am anxious to see how those props work. I am trying to decide which one will be next.
