I finished building my Titan 40 a while back and thought I'd post some pics.

Here's some pics of the inside. I made the stuffing tube mount out of a small sheet of thick aluminum I got at my local hobby shop. A little dremel work with a cutting wheel. I'll put a couple of pics on the next post.

Here's some pics of making the stuffing tube mount and putting the servo in.

Here's the speed control mount made out of some thin aluminum with some velcro to hold the speedo. I mounted the rx in the floatation.

And here's the finished product. Now, if I could just find somebody to race here in middle Tennessee....:beerchug:

Oh yeah, one last set. These were just too funny to leave out!!! When I bolted the motor in I forgot to put the water cooling tube on the side of the water outlet. The tube bounced through the gears and made some pretty white $10 dust. Lesson learned.

**The gps top speed pic was obviously not attained in the boat

Well done Blake. I love a clean build and yours is spotless. I'd like to see some video if you can post it up. What cells did you run in it & did you ever get a good gps reading?
Thanks for sharing,
Tom G

Thanks Tom. I posted some videos of the first few test sessions on youtube and google video. You can search for Titan 40 and they are the first vids that come up or here's a better idea:

First Test Video (http://video.google.com/videoplay?docid=9039545486770409244)
Second Test Video (http://video.google.com/videoplay?docid=-5749655729660116177)
Third Test Video (http://video.google.com/videoplay?docid=107100784755135623)

At first I tried 12 gp3300's but to their credit they were old and worn out. Now I'm running 6s1p TPx 5000 lipo's with the cc hydra120. I don't like tempting fate too much so when the new ccHV's come out I'll spring for one of those for the extra headroom.
I did get a gps of 43.5mph just before it blewover. The cg was too far aft and I should have had more negative rudder. Boat, learn, and boat again. :buttrock:

Looks good! The gps reading is slightly off.....

Nice boat man...I've pondered picking up a titan quite often recently.

Any reason you went with a gear drive?...with the lehner 2250, you could easily have gone direct drive and picked up some speed without effecting run time much at all with the right prop. Just a thought...I hadn't seen many people running gear drives in a while...again, nice boat

At the time I had a Hacker 77 and amp management was an issue so I opted for the gear drive to give me some flexibility using the same motor.

gotcha...the gear drive will definately give you flexibilities...any plans to convert to direct drive? I'd imagine your set up direct drive has an easy 50+mph potential.

My titan 40 is set up with a NEU 1515 1Y S and a hydra 240 on neu 4s2p.. Runs perfect Hitting speeds in the 50+ mph range depending on the water.... Awsome heat boat.

No plans for a direct drive in this hull right now. Casey, that NEU 1515 1Y is a GREAT motor for this boat, especially for a 2p setup. I've heard this hull tries to turn into an airplane in the mid 50's. You ever had a problem with that?

If your CG isnt set up far enough forward for race water and wind conditions it will blow off pretty easily.

You just have to get the setup nailed down.

Blake, you should come down to atlanta and race with us.....

Hey guys, first post. First, I know many of you have spent allot of money and time beating your head against the wall learning what works and what doesnt. I appreciate the knowledge you all share with us noobies.

I'm getting a shopping list together for my first build. Planning on the Titan 33 (40). I wanted some input on different drive hardware set ups. Pros and cons on using a all-in-one strut/rudder set up such as Fine Design's 21EGSRA verses Speedmasters Stinger. Does one have an edge over the other in durability and/or performance? If I do go with Speedmaster set up, do should I go with the mini rudder or is the larger size rudder more appropriate for the Titan33?

Thanks again!

I prefer the speed master hardware because it is easier to make micro adjustments...

I'm in the ATL all the time for work. Do you use the pond over by the airport?

Yup. The naturally fresh pond. We stumbled across the Atlanta model Boaters, a mostly gas club, we joined and now We participate in club races, grand prixs and everything with them. Its also a great place to test SAWs boats......

We are out running almost every weekend.....Race or no Race

Nautiboyz, I went with the fd all-in-one really because it was just one less thing for me to mess up. It has performed well so far. The biggest drawback I've found with it is adjustment. The screws that hold the strut in place are the same ones attach the rudder to the assembly. If you want to adjust the strut angle you'd better be prepared to reset the rudder angle. Sometimes I don't mind it and sometimes it's just a pain.

C.Smock I have been to that pond. When ATL is taking off to the west I get a glimpse of it. I had some extra time one day and decided to Google Map it. They have a nice stand and looks like a great place to race. The gate was locked so I checked it out from the road. I'll pm you if I come down on a weekend for sure. Thanks for the invite.
