T180 or Swordfish 200 on Leopard 4082 motor

Would either of these esc work ok on a Leopard 4048 1500kv 120amp 2y on 6s, Going in one of the many knock off deep v hulls that are around. Its actually the 41" Osprey. Dont want to spend silly money on an esc thats why im looking at these 2, What would be the best choice between the 2 ussuming their ok to use. Also what size props would be good on this hull & set up. Is the above motor a better choice than the Leopard 4082 1450kv 110amp 4d. Thanks Martin.

The T180 will work with the 4082 1450kv................some suggest to Disconnect the BEC wire, i run them as is with the BEC..............up to you. I run a 1717 1580kv with the T180 in a 39" mono and its a 4584 size.

Dont know what a 4048 is...............

Dont know where i got 4048 from that should read 4082, I would still like to know what diffence i will see between the 4082 1500kv 120amp 2y & the 1450kv 110amp 4d motors. Thanks Martin.

I bought two 180's for my build because of the problems they were having with the 200's. There's a thread around here somewhere about it.

I wouldnt expect blistering speeds with a 41" hull with either motor.It will run good but Im predicting in the 40's for speed.

All your questions will be anwered in that link. Like larry said click on it and read it. Timing is going to change between those motors, so it is important to know what wind you will be running, so you can get the proper timing!

I thought about the 1450, but I will end up using the 4082 1500kv on my HK hull.

I would go with the T180 , its burst current is 360amps , much more than the swordfish , even though swordfish are a good ESC , i have been running a 4082 1500kv on 6s with the T180 for the last six month with out any problems at all !!

But i have always had the BEC disconnected ......that hull would be much more suited with a 5692 1340kv motor , just my 2 cents worth :rockon2:

I allready have this boat sitting doing nothing at the moment so wanted to use it but not at silly money really. If i go with the 5692 motor it means very expensive esc + more expesive larger battery packs, All the hardware is fitted in the hull with a 3/16" shaft which also would need ripping out & replacing with a much longer ( the 5692 motor needs to be moved foward quite a bit to get the motor lined up with the shaft because of its very large size body & cooler that you cant get low enough to align a shaft in its present position). It would also need a 1/4" shaft as well. I thought the 4082 1500kv on 6s would give reasonable speeds for no where near the money or work needed going to a 5692. The 4082 on 6s is giving around 57mph in the Spartan in its first few runs so should go even faster with further development & time. Im not looking any wear near or expecting those speeds, But the point is the Spartan is still a fairly large boat at around 36". Who would of thought the 4082 motor would take the Spartan to close to 60mph when the stock motor only returned around 43-44mph on 6s. Heat issues aside. Thanks Martin.
