Guys, I am just after some feedback on the Feigao motors vs the Leopard ones, the main difference I can see is the Leopard are 4 pole motors.

What I would like to know is anyone who has had experience in dirrect comparison situations - are the leopard any stronger, push a bigger prop? run cooler? better made?

I have run a few Feigao's and they are ok, probably good for the money, but I do not consider them to be very Strong.

The size I have run most is 9XL, and compared to the SV27 motor, I think it is less tourquey. The SV27 motor is 6pole, does this relate directly to the torque?

Any info is gretly appreciated.

Thanks...Tim.

Are you comparing 36mm motors? Most guys running leopards are using 40mm motors. Typically a motor with more poles will have more torque. Which sv motor are you speaking of? The older version 1500-1600kv or the newer 1800kv motor in the sv-27R?

I too am interested to hear the thoughts of some people who have direct comparisons, i'm running a feigao 10xl on 6s in my 32" cat and getting 60mph so i am impressed with the feigao, and max temp recorded was 130 after a good long run.

I debated getting a leopard but seems to me for very little extra you can go castle, and i've had great results with castles in my truggies so i got one for my boat!

Scott, well the comparison is not exactly apples & apples, the 36mm feigao vs the 40mm leopard, does the 4mm dia make much differnce, does the no. of poles make much difference.

The SV motor is the old one, I no longer have it I cooked it on 6S, I have no real data on any comparisons I have made, but the original SV motor in mySV27 felt strong and very punchy. The 9Xl in the same boat was not as tight or punchy, top speed was almost the same.

Note: speed control was not standard, it was a watercooled 150 amp version running on 6S.

The 4074 leopard is probably twice as powerful as a 3674 Feigao of the same kv............

I also was running a Feigao 10xl on 4s in a Bittburger cat. We have switched it out for a Leopard 2200kv motor but won't be able to give you feedback for another couple months. All the water around here is frozen solid. I've been running a Leopard 2200kv in a PT Stealth hydro and am VERY happy with it. Tons of power, runs at about 85-90 degrees. I personally think it matches up pretty close with a Neu 1515 1y performance wise (no hard data just mine and others observations) BUT I have only run it about 7-8 times so we will have to see how it compares and holds up in the long run.

Mark, 4074 or 4082?

The cat and the hydro are both 4074 2200kv.

I did some testing in my H&M Intruder with a Leopard 4074 and a Feigao 8XL, both running 5S. I know it's not a direct equivalent, but speed wise they were identical, the only difference was the temperature. Feigao was too hot to touch (did not have my temp gauge) and the Leopard was completely cold...

thats 37683rpm on the feigao which is alot, mind you i'm running the 10xl on 6s which is 37029rpm but the highest temp i have had on my infrared is 130, mind you its nice cold water right now. ahaha

The RPM is high but not rediculous, I run 9XL's on 6S in a maritomo without any problems, also same in SuperVee 27, although it was WAY too much power for the SV.:beerchug:

I think the Leopards are stronger. I had compared a Feigao 580L with a 4074 and the feigao was not even close to the 4074, speed and temperatures wise. The 4074 is stronger, can deliver more power with lower temperatures.

hi there

i have tested both on my Synchron
for about 2 years, i'm running a Feigao 8Xl , 4S and Hydra 120

i was quite happy even if motor T° was alway too high for me.

in september, i bought a Leopard 3674 , kv is 2200, i just replace motor, no change to lipo or esc .

on first run i use same prop : X445 mod

what i can say is : incredible !!!!!

i never push throttle over 60% .........
i test other props and result is same

so now i have transfer all stuff in a LIZARD hull, and it fit well for me

if you compare specs:
Leopard 3674 = 2400w max
Feigao XL = 1500w max

herve

Guys,
it's not my maritimo, the Maritiomo was a bit slower than this one, it is a cat called a MasoKat from Fast Electrics in Australia, power is 2 x 1515 1Ys (2200kv) on 5S, so that't approx 40,700 rpm at 18.5 volts, a few more at full charge!

Speed is 122kph, we do intend to hook 6S up to this cat one day, it will either blow up, or absolutally fly.

The vid was the first ever run too, no tuning etc...

maybe big apples and small apples, lol

Feigao 580L : 45mm diameter 76 mm length, 545 grams
Leopard 4074: 40mm diameter, 74 mm length, 375 grams

Leopard is smaller, lighter and MORE powerful

Because I cooked a Feigao 10XL in my Titan 29" I ordered and got a Leopard 4074 2000Kv two days ago.
My setup is 5S2P Zippy 5000mAh 40C and Seaking 120A ESC.
The 10XL overheated at 86°C=186F after 5 minutes at full trhottle with an X440 prop and the speed was only 58Km/h = 36Mph.
The problem could be the boat was running too wet, the COG was @ 34% from the transom.
Now I have moved the batteries more back and I will try a COG @ 30% with the Leopard 4074.
My Leopard came with 4mm bullets, are them too small to handle 1500W continuous?
What bullets are you using with Leopard 4074?

I standardized on 5.5mm, I just feel better. Normally the factory 4mm could be ok, but it's easy and cheap enough to go one size bigger. Plus most of my packs came with the 5.5mm bullets...

something was most definatley wrong for that motor to get that hot that fast on 5s!

i'm running the 10xl on 6s 5000mah 30c x442, 60mph, 130f after full length run.

Fruity, that video was the 1st FE boat Ive seen run and was my inspiration to get into boats.I still watch it sometimes just to hear the sound of the props.Thank you for posting the video.
And for my wallet being empty from getting addicted to FE.:just-kidding:

just got my ul-1 and would like to use this setup the leopard4074 2200kv/turnigy120a esc/turnigy5000mah 2s 1p 40c with 5.5 bullet
my worries are heat and would it work

Fluid

It won't work on 2S1P, you need 4S1P. The motor will work with the right prop, start with an m440 and work up. Check heat often the first few times, but if the boat runs freely you should be okay.
