Just thought I'd throw up a VID for some opinions and see
What other people are running, or have tried with their boats.
Without being able to get a gps inside I marked out a measured
Distance, best I can tell I'm really close to 55-60 mph (88 ft/ sec)

Yes it's a missile! You have a nice speed there with that setup. I'm planning on a 3800kv or 3900KV motor next as the stock motor is better for a 4s which the batteries are just to big and heavy to get any decent runtimes. On 3s 3900kv is mostly what is agreed on for these hulls and is pushing the max. 4200kv is the extreme max but you have a 4600kv in there?

Nice, hopefully the drive line hull will not have too much stress on that speed and it would be a long term reliable/fast setup. How long have you run it with that kv and how many runs and what motor/ prop are you using?

The secret that I've found was a battery with a bight discharge rate that will keep up, I'm running the Hyperion 1900mah 3s but a 45 c discharge rating, next I may throw my 5700 back in.
The reason I took out the 5700 was it was cooking my batteries.
Stepping back kv's and upping c rating wash solution.I've run quite a few batteries through this new setup and it seems to be alright ( touch fiberglass).
I use a Tenshock 32x36 polished balanced. I have a 430 & a 437 Octura but have yet to use them, I'm not sure if they will work that well.

What ESC are you running?

On aside note I've seen a few boats that weigh in at around 550 grams or so,mine with hatch tape and a full battery (lol) comes in at just under 900 grams...

The sidewinder speed control, I think it draws about 110 amps or so, I've never felt it get warm..

I see. What are your runtimes? You may just have the fastest Minicat hydro Iv'e seen yet.

Oh I lied the other props ate a 427& a 430 had the wrong boat in mind.

I usually get around four or so, kinda hard to stuff the ol electrons in there.it's hard enough jamming a 1900 down in the right rear.

That's encouraging to hear, thanks..

I get a kick out of what people think is a fast Rc boat.

I think that would give a larger boat a run for it's money in a drag race!

Actually I've cleaned a few guys clocks, they see tiny boat and the rest is history.
This boat leaves my gas and electric king of shaves in the dust.

Exactly. That is why I love these smaller hulls. Small, light and fast and it does not take much to make them into a ricket.

...consider race water conditions. A small boat (even 24") cant handle the wake produced by all the race boats in the water. You may take the lead, but when you finally lap, it'll be impossible to control in the larger boats wake.

Learned that the hard way

That's ok, not too many laps in a drag race! Lol

Don't bother with this guy...he doesn't get it. We've got a DF29 with stock power that would be a lap ahead of him after only ONE LAP!

Sweet_acord,
repsol,
generally speaking, the higher c rate a battery the lower the energy density will be, generally measured in watt-hrs / Kg
I can give an example of how to caculate, if anyone is interested.
So, keeping the amps down is good for heat, and run time.
So, the BadAss missile has an unloaded prop speed of about 4600kv*(80% eff) *3s *3.7v nom = 40848 RPM!!!
Sweet_accord, you said you were targeting 3800kV on 4s, 80% eff, which would yield about 44992 RPM!! this should be a touch faster than the missile, all else being equal.
I was planing on going this same way with my Starship.
let me know how it turns out!
