I made another run tonight with the BJ and was able to get a 49.1 best out of it. I some how turned the boat over when I turned aournd, not sure what happened. Well a bit of water must have gone in the radio box because it started to run goofy on my next pass and took off. luckily it recieved some steering input and I was able to make it wipe out before running up the bank. Hopefully the radio is fine. One of these days I might be able to get a clean run out of the boat and bring it back in so I can check my temps.

The water was almost perfectly flat with the exception of some small waves from the water fountain. Atleast the boat stayed flat on the water and wasn't trying to blowover.

there wasn't any wind out there today, thankfully. Everytime there has been any wind, the boat goes over.

the setup right now is the ammo 36-50-2300, hydra 120, trinity 6 cell 4200 battery packs, and a modified x642 propeller.

I tried doing a bit more work on the 645 today, but I think I went to far and messed up on it.

I still have something else I would like to try on the 642 to see if I can gain any more.

Avanti we need to get the video camera out this weekend so we can get some good footage. You know good and well that between the BJ and the SV, there will be some exciting spills

The faster a cat goes the further forward the CG needs to be to prevent a blowover. Try moving the CG forward 1/2" at a time and that should help keep the bow down. Go too far and the boat won't fly correctly and speed will drop.

that Sv motor might tear those gears up, you gotta mesh them just right...I'm trying to find a machinist that can make some stainless steel ones...what ever the price, as long as they last.....

DON'T mesh them real tight, thats a dumb move, it will heat up the motor and make the motor pull more amps.

I know a guy that I will talk to about making us some gears Prince

I use cigarette papers to set the spacing between the gears.

Keep me informed Avanti...outboards is my thing I like the realism...For me my models HAVE to look like a scale down version of the real thing It just adds to the realism to me, for me I just can't put a motor and some cells in a box...I'm just a kid at heart...I'd like to get a dual outboard BJ going by spring...But not if I have to put brass gears in it, to much of a hassle

Yea, but you'd have to ask steve if they can do brushless...I remember the Guys at AC saying their outboard could handle brushless...it can for about a couple of good runs....Those gears...and the need to also make replacement not sure what you call them, but they support the shaft coming out the back......

What, you don't have that gear mesh feel watts? Man thats the first thing in RC i learned was how to set proper mesh....I can set mesh on anything without papers :D not bragging but I leave those to the roller for smoking

RCprince if they are talking about the EP-1 yes they can handle BL motors. But the gears dont like the BL motors so u have to change the gears every couple of runs.OB motors and replacement parts (www.offshoreelectrics.com/products.php?cat=48) the gears are right below the EP-1 the gears are 24 bucks a pack. I dont know about the outdrive tho heres a link to Graupner site Z drive info (shop.graupner.de/webuerp/servlet/AI?ARTN=1985). It sounds like it is a straight shaft no gears. U will have to ask steve on this one but i think it will work with a BL system.

Thats a lot for gears that have to be replaced to often. I have always like the I/O units, and OB motors. The scale look is nice, but they do not perform. Guess it's always a trade off.....

Plus, Steven has been out of stock of the graupner 600 I/O unit for atleast a couple of months now. I was interested in one a while back, I still have not seen them come in on the website.

I've bought a couple of replacement pairs already from Steve...I need steel now...brass gears are not ready for brushless applications....
