This may have been talked about before but does anyone use a single 4S lipo in their Supervee? If so where do you mount it and does it work as far as center of gravity and such?

I would guess you would need to completely rerig the boat so you could put the 4s aft of the motor. I have thought about a similar rerig for my nimhs running one pack fwd and one pack aft of the motor with the servo rx & esc pushed outward. This would also help lower the c/g of the boat.

In my opinion I would like to change my motor mount so the engine doesnt stick up in the air so high. putting my lipo's on the side doesnt seem to be a plus or neg. but the motor rocking in the corners so high seems like it would emphasize the roll over factor.

I run 2 in parallel in the same mounting locations as the 2S packs, runs great and the bit of extra weight makes it more stable,,,,and at 4200Mah (8400 total ) equals reallllllly longgggggggg run times:D

The mods required for a single wold be large .:cursing: :cursing:

good idea I had not thought of lowering the motor

Thanks

Like what Doby said just put 2 of them in and hook up parralel, or you can hook up just one Battery and not the other, and when you use up that one just plug in the other, Batteries never have to leave the boat

or......if you do one Batt at a time, you can have 2 fresh 8.4V fully charged throughout the day where as in Parralel the voltage of both Batts drop at the same time. although you'll have a longer run time, the speed decreases because the voltage decreases. you notice the boat is its fastest the first 20-30 sec. off the line at WOT.
P.S. "I dont know what Im talking about,"

There is not much difference in temps at all, I don't use the rudder cooling though, made my own pickup and the water just flows and flows. That's the key,,,coooooooooooling,,,,,ahhhhhhhhhh ,,,lots and lots of coooooooling.:w00t: :w00t:

thanks for the info Doby I think I will be make a transome pick up soon

I agree with Doby the hole in the rudder look very small for water intake. How did you make your pickup and what parts did you use?

I'm going to make a through hull out of copper just like I use to do on the race boats I built. the tube will have a 90* bend in it and be cut on a bias where it comes through the bottom of the hull. then there will be a small vee dremeled out in front of it to direct the water. I'll be sure and take pics when I do it (should be within the next two weeks).

Would love to see the result. I just got my SV and I won't use it untill summer but I plan on using all the great advice from you members to get it set up correctly.

Here are some shots, just a piece of brass tubing held on by a small clamp,,,,water flies out of the hull over one foot staight out at speed. Moves water faster than SJFE moves from boat to boat .:D :D

Thanks for the pictures it looks very effective. I also got a kick out of the outboard conversion. How did that work out?

it works great, i have it trimmed nice...ride at about 5 degree bow lift..plus i made those tabs out of softer aluminum alot easier the adjust. it ran 38 on the blackjack's brushless system which the motor kv is 1500...I'm about to put in a 3300 kv and try a x632 and a x432 and see what gives with 3's to 4's 4500's

Avanti if your going to add a water pickup let me know.
No need to drill holes this is a bolt on for the sv.
Ill send you a set since you gave a freebee bag away.

Has anyone actually determined that the stock system is inadequate?? I was running my SV27 today and there was a nice stream of water coming out and at the end of a 6 minute full throttle run the end bell on the motor was 115 degrees.

I have the OSE cooling jacket.

no but I will let you know if the temps go down with the new set up after I get it installed.

the stock set up is just over a trickle out the side of the boat. I want to move the outlet to the back and whould like a solid stream.

I think the stock cooling is fine I have one of the first s.v. out and run it almost every weekend its all original I use a single 4s set up I cut a piece of 3/32 ply the same width as the batttery and glassed it 1" in front of the motor I run the strut netral with no tab the boat is fast and handles well I race against 25 outher s.v. and just finished 1st in our six month points series with this set up outher boats were running 2p set ups and 2s 1p set ups they all seem to work well though

Mine is a solid stream that is clearly visible from a good distance.

yeah you can see mine pretty good but I want to test it with more and see if it is worth wild.

My motor temps are about 90 w/ the tab setup. Cooler means less wear. I do all fun runs and testing w/ the tab pickup. On race day I move it back to the rudder but I did have to open up the intake hole w/ a teardrop shape dremel.

About that 1 4s1p pack.

I raced my Titan 29 for a couple of heats before the end of the season with only one 4s1p lipo pack on the right side of the boat. (port?)

The boat did tilt a little in thw water...But it ran good! better than expected! I ran into a pinch....my 2s packs where not charged....But it worked well.

So it's do-able! :-)

Where did you find the pick-up/trim adjusters? I've never seen those before.
