I had a thread started with this hull but I named it wrong and did not like the way it was going.

I got a hull a few weeks ago, that has been passed to many people. Here is what I had to start with:

I started by installing a new stuffing tube and motor mount area. Boat is done but I will post its journey to get new life to this hull.

WOW!! Kale's BBY ovalmaster. at one time she was THEE bad bitch!! till date the best ugly water boat ive seen. with the dual rudder set up, launching 3 feet above the 2 foot chop and eatting up the white caps. the thing turned on a dime no matter the conditions. we ran her in the ocean and it seemed the uglier the water, the better she handled. she was "champ" on 12 cells with a graupner 700. until ofcourse AquaCraft came out with the SV 27 brushless, which changed FE boating for us. i miss that yellow boat.

I was the first owner of that boat Randy at BBY built it for me back in the day..................

She went around Hawaii a few times. Got it from Tunda hand dropped by Hooked UP. Then she went off to fqdawld and ......................IMHO anything more than a sv motor is too much for this boat. Best LSO boat iv'e driven.

would build a flood chamber work in this and how do they work?

roadrashracing

got some speedmast hardware for this, Will shockwave 26 bl system be good for this or will a 2 battery setup work better?

talk to randy at bby racing he is the builder of these boats and has made a flood chamber for the om29 he may have a template for you

no longer thinking about that idea I have this hardware coming for it.

I will really like to knowq how a a 2s lipo and a 2900 kv would move this, if it will be a waste of time I will sell it now the brushless sytem. I do have some 45 amp pb speed controls just need a motor

Rumdog

You may want to sell it then..

That was a nice run. I would like to see the setup on that boat.

Wilmer and I had a OM26-N2 running at about 55MPH in oval trim. I have to pry it out of his hands every time I loan it to him.

With the right setup the OM29 can attain good high speeds. If you push out the strut more it will cause more lift, the one thing it does not need. For Oval speed one rudder and a shorter strut would be better. But this boat was setup for LSO and it takes a bit to change.

I guess I would be intested in flood chamber looks pretty coll and no need to recover every time it flips. What is lso?

with the setup I am going to run should I keep the motor where it is or bring more in on the hull and have batteries on ether side?

That video was when I first got it.

Find out The setup from 785 boats because that's the OM was dialed.

Use a heat gun to help soften and weaken the epoxy.Once its pretty warm,it should pop right out.

drive sytem is all set, got motor mounted, I think I used a wrong king of stuffing tube, I used 7.32 tube by mistake, is there any liners that fit in it, or do I just need to pack it with grease?

Do I just need turn fins on the back or do I need sablizers to? I was this thinking of cutting some angle for that.

RIPFENCE
01-05-2011, 10:30 AM
do not bother with a liner...just make sure you grease regularly...turn fins are usually recommended on monos to take advantage of full turning...trim tabs are an experimental thing..you can try the boat without them first..if you are getting alot of unwanted bouncing or rocking from side to side after moving batteries and adjusting the drive..then you could try tabs..they are not a total necessity kind of depends on the hull

RIPFENCE

one other thing is that you may want to think about as far as handling goes...ideally i have found in most cases the hull handles better when the inside edge of the rudder and the prop line up and are approximately the same distance from the transom...you would need a rudder bracket extension to bolt to...but again its all about the handling...i have never owned one of these hulls so it might be totally fine the way it is...another 2 cents..i wanna see the slut on the water!!!lol

The boat was loose from the start, who knows what all of the changes you have done will do. I make one change at a time so I know what it did. you moved the cg forward when you moved the motor mount. you gave it mote lift when you lengthened the strut. The glue may have changed the bottom of the hull so there is no dip in it. (it may have lost that long ago) At least put the trims and the turn fins back ware you found them if possible. I am just trying to help. Rip was right about the rudder placement, it also helps counteract torque.

got the hardware all taken care off, used some blackjack turn fins and homemade trim tabs, I might have to go to lake michigan to try this april is a long time away.

The boat is done, I am really happy about how it turned out, besides electronics, I got about $50 including hull, pain, and parts. The motor mount and trim tabs are home made. I just not sure how this brushless system will move it, only time will tell, not looking for tons of speed, just what I had laying around. Just need water:crying:
