i just got a miss geico given to me that had fried the motor and esc. it also had some minor damage to the hull that will be repaired when i blueprint and paint it. i started by tearing it apart to get ready for paint. all the wood was smoke soaked and i dont like that set-up anyway so i removed it. i am planing on laying cf as i always do and am looking for power train suggestions from people that have tried different ones. i have a couple other builds to finish before this one but it is time to start collecting parts. i will probablly use the stock strut cut down and a speedmaster rudder mounted to the right and even with the drive dog.

i was thinking leopard 40-74-2000 or 2200 and have a couple turnigy 180's laying around. i just built a boat with the 2000kv leapord but havent tried it yet so i dont know if i am impressed with them. i use alot of neu's, one cc 1515 and ul-1 motors in all my other boats. i also have a hotr cat with the t600 outrunner on 6s and for $30 i am impressed (over 60mhp, thats $0.50 per mph, not bad LOL)

what othere motor combos have been tried? i have cc120 & turnigy 180's laying around. my goal is high 40's to low 50's on 4s.

I have gotten low forties on the castle 1512 (1800kv) on 4s and high fifties on 6s. Rumor has it a prather 230 on the factory motor and 4s can kiss fifty also but I have not tried it yet. I have run the factory motor on 6s with the 642 and got low to mid fifties.

that would be perfect but i dont have the stock motor. if i was going to dish out $70 for a stocker i think i would pick something else.

Yeah the stock motors new are expensive. Just giving you some of my testing for free take it or leave it.

I have a Savage Flux 2350 truck. Here is what I have been wanting to do-take the motor from the truck and put it in a boat on 4s.The kv is 2350.The rpm would be 34,780.The motor is the same size as a 1515 Neu.It is also a smooth can.I think this would be a very nice, fast setup using a 180 esc.If you want to see the motor go to www.hpiracing.com
HPI's prices are more expensive than buying from a retailer, but you can get a part number and find it elswhere.

castle 1512 or the castle 1800kv outrunner

I just got a Castle 1512 1800kv for mine but have not wanted to try it with the stock ESC, so for now it waits until after x-mas. The boat really likes the 42x55 Grim prop with the stock motor so you might want to keep that prop in mind. I'm hoping it will rip with the higher KV and extra torque of the larger 1512 1800kv motor, when compared to the stock 36mm, 1500kv motor. I'm sure it would fly with a CC 2200 on 4S too!

What ever way you go, you will love the way the boat handles. I love mine!!

I wish the cc 2200 were included in the big castle sale!

i think everyone does but there is no sense in putting the hot seller on sale.

Exactly, CEC! I doubt that motor will ever go on sale unless they revise it and have overstock of the older version.

But check Neu's clearance section every once in a while. They have some really good sales some times.

I just ordered a Castle 1800kv out runner motor. Gonna try it in the Geico and see how it does.I'm curious to see which Castle motor is faster. The 1512 1800kv or the 3424 1800kv.

A bet a leopard 4068 2350kv on 4s would be a rocket. http://cgi.ebay.com/LEOPARD-4068-BRUSHLESS-MOTOR-2350KV-Castle-Hobbywing-/280540954233?pt=Radio_Control_Parts_Accessories&hash=item41518b3e79#ht_1046wt_1139

What prop would you run on this. Also what speed control

Theirs not really a lot of specs on this motor. I think it's a custom make for Kershaw. It's listed as a 4 pole but I am really not sure, leopard does make some 2 pole motors as well. The spec sheet provided says 80 amps max so underload it will be higher then that. Maybe a seaking 120 or a swordfish 120. I do plan on getting this motor sometime soon and plan on running a swordfish 200.

Props start small. Maybe a octura x440. I am just taking a guess, I don't know anyone running this motor but I don't mind becoming the guinea pig...

Bump, what prop? 642 or M445

I'd run a 45mm prop to take advantage of the torque of the castle motor. x645. The stock motor will turn a 642.

Well, I rummaged through my stuff and I must have thought the same thing last fall as I have a new x645 prop laying on the bench. I have not run my new castle motor and esc combo yet, so I forgot what prop I had intended to run. I still have a month or so before the lakes/ponds thaw, but I wanted to get back in the know, as it is getting closer to run time again.

With the 1800 I ran a 42x55 on 4S and a Prather 215(40mm) on 6S. The x645 should do great on 4S but might be to big for 6S, IMO.

Is it still a bare hull? What motor mount are you going to use?

I just replaced my stock motor and esc with the new Castle motor and Seeking 180 amp esc.
I used the stock motor motor.
