Anyone purchased one of the "water damaged" mean machine hulls from Aeromarine? What exactly is the damage?

I was wondering the same thing.

Will give them a call in the morning.

ME!! I did. The water damage... They were arr or rtr nitro boats. The damage must have been to the motors or electronics. The hulls and hardware are just fine.

ME TOO. The ONLY thing I can see is some light rust on the strut and rudder nuts / bolts. Hardly what I would even call "water damaged". Remy told me he just wouldn't sell them this way to the "general public." Here's a couple pics of it.

Thanks for the input guys. I'm considering building matching boats with my son over the winter...this has to be about the best bang for your buck out there.

It is... I bought two of them and they came with gas engines that I gave away. Light rust but hardware just fine. One has a single 4074 Leopard and the second one has Dual Leopard 4074's with dual Seaking 180's. Incredible bang for the buck!

That hatch just looks like a pain to tape.Thats what draws me away from some hulls is the wacko hatches.I no some hulls are for gas or nitro,so it doesnt have to sit flush and flat like an FE hull, but the mean machine I think would be a pain.

As soon as those hatches come back in stock Ill be picking one of those up also.
I believe its a 3/16 shaft that comes on it.

how do you get the stuff out of the inside of the hull?

the radiobox, nitro motor mount ect.

Thanks

DISAR

very easy with a dremel cutting wheel, but after that it will be nice to lay up a carbon or carbon-aramid cloth for the look and to definately strengthen the tunnel area because it has a lot of flex.
with a Turnigy 1400kv outrunner on 5-6s its really good

Heat it up carefully with a heat gun to loosen the adhesive. It will come off easily.

Thanks, it took me some time to make the model and make this shape and place it forward where the motor is, but I think it came out quite nice. The mean machine is an "all time classic" boat, I would never change it.

Ive been told three seperate times that it is shipping on that afternoon..
Orderd over a week ago.
I allready orderd all the other parts for it elsewhwere and im sure that the other parts will be here before the hull ever will.

The “sale” of the mean machines seems to have been a fantastic one where a lot of people have got lucky as they managed to get some real good mean machine hulls at a very good bargain!! A real pity that I missed out this time and from the discussion here, I am sure that I must check out on these “water damaged” stuff when it comes up again!!

i personally love my mean machine. havent finished the build up yet. but its a gorgeous boat and a great deal. im going to build my own hatch out of carbon really soon. whats a good rudder for one of these? i have through hull pick ups annd a speedmaster strut. i dont need one with a water pickup but i guess it doesnt really matter

heres some pics from wheni laid in carbon

haha alright, looks like its time to modify the motor mount so the larger screws will fit the slot. then get a new coupler and thrust bearing :rockon2:

swordfish 120 esc or the turnigy 125?

OP, sorry to kinda hijack. guess i need to re open my build thread

I run the Speedmaster rudder with the water pickup. I just called them and they recommended the correct rudder (I did shorten the rudder some). I run a New 1515.1Y at a best GPS speed of 58.5mph, but nornally it runs in the 57s. Not back but wonder if I should have gone with a motor with more torque. It doesn't seem to like anything over an X440-3 prop.

I got it wet today!!!
This has been a long wait and a long build but we got it in the water.
Ive been playing with the big gasser as of late.
After a few bad starts and all we reached a nice full run and speeds were at 47.5!!
Happy so far, still more in it.
