"2011 NAMBA FE Nationals" Hosted by: The Wave Blasters of Florida
Sonsored by: Offshore Electrics & Rum Runner Racing / Hobbies

Hey Everyone,
Finally after all the meetings, forum replies, and dozens of phone calls,
we "The Wave Blasters of Florida" are now ready to officially announce the dates for the 2011 FE Nationals.
The Race will be held;
June 1st - 5th , Wednesday thru Sunday with Wednesday being the practice day.

Please do not beat us up about the dates as this was difficult enough trying to canvas the country to find the best
possible dates taking all suggestions and criticisms into consideration.
We have gotten these dates approved by the NAMBA board who checked additionally with all the District directors
and there were no objections.

Obviously there are dozens of issues that our club will deciding on in the weeks to follow. Be patient with your
questions, as we do expect there will be many. We will try to answer all of them in time.

Preliminarily we have discussed the classes and we plan to run everything requested as long as we get enough
boats to make it a class. That number still to be determined, but will most likely be either a 3 or 4 boat minimum.

We have contacted ME Time RC and hopefully we will have this event either live on the internet or at least filmed
and available on DVD.

As mentioned there are many details yet to be decided on ie; entry fees, sponsorships, race schedules, etc. we
will announce them as these details are decided on. We are all pretty excited about hosting our first Nationals,
hopefully we will have a record attendance too. By making this announcement our hope is that you can start
making your travel plans.

The following is a list of our board of directors, they are all good people and along with plenty of outside help we
all intend to make this a great and really special event.
Bill Plevik, Terry Cowger, Bud Johansen, Rick Workman, Mackey Rogers, & Ken Haines

From all of the Wave Blasters members,
we hope to see all of you in Ft Pierce, Florida at the event.
More details to follow !!
Thanks,
Ken :bounce:

Hey Dave Newland,
Not sure, but I wondered if you knew the past Nat's attendance numbers.
I do not know how many years you would have records for, but that would be interesting information.
We are having a very good early start to this 2011 FE Nat's, how that will
all add up is just speculation at this point. As we all know until racers are
actually signed up and paid for you can only hope that they do.
We do have our collective fingers crossed, time will tell !

Ken-I'll let Davis give the exact figures regarding the Michigan Nat's that had the highest turnout too date. Nothing compares to it at this point in time.

I believe the 2nd largest was Colorado last year at 34 per my sheet. Most others were in the mid 20's in attendance. Not sure on boat count.

You've got a tiger by the tail.

Put me down for an XL shirt and I'll have Dick pick it up for me at the race.

Just wanted to let everyone know that we are planning another Test n tune day a the wave blaster's lake on Saturday May 14. We will start running around 10 am

Like Jeff posted earlier, the last official open practice day at the club before the actual race week will be Saturday May 14th.
We will have the rescue boat available from approximately 10 am till 3 pm.
Should be a good final tune-up for those who choose to attend.

Still need some class sponsors to fill the event, take a look at the
attached "Class Sponsor List" & contact us if you are interested !

We currently have 34 Racers and 205 Boats registered with 20 days left to enter.
We are still hoping for 40 racers, time will tell.

Hope to see everyone very soon,
Thanks,
Ken :bounce:

Hi Steve,
Great to hear. 2 tables, 3 chairs, no problem you got it !
We will also mark you down for the LSO class sponsor.
That is by the way a $100 class as it is one of the 5 highest
participated classes. There will be at least 3 heats each round for LSO !
Spec Hydro and P-mono are the only $100 classes remaining.
The other remaining classes are all $75 each.

Do you want that class to read:
Sponsored by Offshore Electrics or Sponsored by Steve Vaccaro ?
Please advise.

Ok guys the Nats are closing in fast. I was asked to go over how the scoring works for high points and also the team points. The high points will be the formula that Mr. Newland drew up and was used the for the last few Nats i believe. Basically you are award point's for the number of boats you finish ahead of in a class. So lets say P-Mono has 15 boats in the class. The most point's awarded in that class would be 15 point's for first place, you would get 14 point's for second place, 13 point's for third, 12 point's for forth and so on. Now lets say Q- hyrdo has just 4 boats the most point's awarded for that class would be 4 point's for first, 3 point's for second and so on. As you can see more point are available for the bigger classes. The way the high point's are calculated is that you take the average number of boats per racer, right now i think that number would be 6. Then you would take your 6 highest scoring classes and total them up. That would be your total point's won. Then that number is compared with everyone else and that's how the High point's champion is determined.

Ok now for the team points. Teams are made up of three man teams with a $20 buy in. Each team member picks three different classes before racing starts. There is no overlap of classes. Points are awarded the same way they are for heat racing. It makes no difference on the number of boats in a class. Point's are based on finishing order per class so 400 for first, 300 for second and so on.

You the racer dont really have to worry about adding things up and calculating the club will take care of that. Just giving guys a heads up on how it works.

Ok i think that covers it.

Also just a reminder dont forget your your stopwatch.

40 Racers / 234 Boats !!

OK all you FE Racers, the deadline is next Wednesday, May25th for entering this years NAMBA FE Nationals !

Due to getting the race program together and the fact that we have held out this long on the actual date, this deadline is firm. So please get registered this weekend if you still plan on attending but have not signed up yet !
Also if you have entered and there are any class changes additions or subtractions please let us know. If for any reason you do not plan on attending, again please let us know. Your help is greatly appreciated as we would like to have the heat schedules as accurate as possible for the event.

The club is almost prepared. Trophies, Shirts, Drivers Stand, Main Generator, the videographer, banners sponsors, donation prizes, Race CD's, rescue boats, food, Tech Committee, tables , Tents ........are almost in place !!
Wow I'm tired just listing all these things that have had to be completed for this big event.

It will be great seeing old friends and new ones. This should be very fun and enjoyable for all who attend. If you are hesitant because you have never entered a Nat's before don't be. There are plenty signed up attending there first, and the veterans will surely help you how ever they can. We will all make you feel most welcomed and glad you chose to give it a try.

Well enough words now I must get all my boats ready for those 20 classes !!
Hope to see everyone there, :bounce:

A special big thanks to our 2 CD's Terry Cowger Sr.and Mike Martin, they both did a great job.

Thanks to our special score keeper Jason Sims....Jason I wished I could have helped you more, and I really appreciate you taking charge of the Team & High Points scoring, that gave me a big break and he even spotted for me about 100 times ! You a true friend and a really great team-mate. Oh and Dougie, Mike, and Don, please don't try to steal him away !!! lol

Thanks also to Bill Britton of RC Racing Events.com who lent us space on his registration site and worked with Nicole Caldogno to provide all of the scoring.
I must also say Nicole was terrific doing all the scoring too she even put Pags in his place a few times !! lol

I did save the best for last;
Thanks You [U]Mary Workman for your tireless support and help. Your work with the raffle saved the event financially. Mary and Rick even provided 24 hour security by staying on-site in their RV to protect our equipment each night.

OK...Ok this email is so long I'm getting exhausted all over again.
I really tried not to miss anyone. If I did, I'm truely sorry, and please understand we thank all of you. :bounce:

Great work, Ken, Terry, Jason and the rest of the Waveblaster crew!

It's awesome to see names like Terry Cowger Jr winning P mono and OPC, Jeff Westrbrook winning P-Ltd Hydro (1200 pts, too), Jason Simms winning N-2 Mono (and 3 other classes) and Anthony Vaccaro winning N-1 Mono. The competition is very strong in FE, especially when you have Twaits Jr there, who won 6 classes himself. More than anybody. He likes to win, and winning against him is a very difficult task.

I must say that the Rc Racing Events site is very nice. I like looking at the results so much, that I printed a hard copy.
