Took some video and shot some pics from the 2-lap event, hosted by Puget Sound Model Boat Club, Namba District 8.

Special Thanks to Eric Bourlet, Jerry Dunlap, and Mark Anderson for putting this event together.

Weather worked out very well. Overcast and mild, with absolutely no wind.

Several records were set/improved upon.

Amonst them, was Brian Buaas putting 8S, and ICE 100, and a Scorpion 1230KV motor, into his 27" Raptor Pickle Fork, and running S-Sport Hydro! He also put 6S in the boat and ran Q-Sport, and then swapped motors to a Castle 2650KV 1512 1Y and 4S to attempt the P-Sport record. He ended up with the S-Sport record, and I think he got Q also. I'll try to get official record times and post them later.

Lohring Miller and Brian also ran Lohring's G1-Mono to two new records... G1 and GX 1, I believe.

I ran my N1 Mono to a new records of 49.75 (was 53.06), and my N1 Hydro to a new record of 38.41 (was 41-something).

If you have never taken advantage of one of these events, you are missing a GREAT chance to test, tune, and drive your boats truely to their limits. It's great fun.

Here is an introction to the event that I filmed:

Here is the first S-Sport run that Brian did. Wrong prop, but it still resulted in a record for the class.

Here is Brian's second attempt at S-Sport, with a bit better prop. I think the time was down in the 25-ish range here...

He said he's going to need a bigger turn-fin to try to get this boat to hold lane 1 at these speeds with this much weight.

Here are some shots of Brian Buaas' Top-Speed 3, setup for FE using an OS lower and a Hyperformance adapter to mate the AQ UL-1 motor. This was on Sunday for the heat racing, and I wasn't there, but heard he ran REALLY well. (not that that is anything new! :cool2: )

Also, I was a little busy, so wasn't able to fully pay attention to the other racers, but Mike Cambell also VERY close to nipping the 1/10th Scale Modern record with his "BOAT"...

It was a fun day at the pond for sure. That poor little DH pickle fork just keeps coming back for more. 25.56 seconds for S Sport and 28.22 for Q Sport.

So here's the setup:
Old reliable DH pickle fork.

S-Sport
Scorpion Hk-3026-1210, Castle Pheonix Ice 100 (with added cooling), 8S Flight Power 3800's, Grimracer 38x55L prop (with a little work). Used a grand total of 680 mah for the run.

Q-Sport
Scorpion Hk-3026-1210, Castle Pheonix Ice 100 (with added cooling), 6S Flight Power 5000's, Grimracer 42x66L prop (with a little work). Used a grand total of 790 mah for the run.

These may be the first records set with a Scorpion motor.

I never could put 2 laps together for P-sport. about the forth atempt, it was on a 24 second run with a P setup and had something fail (still haven't figured it out yet). Had to call it a day.

The little red boat was almost sacrificed to the pond gods (joining my trusty round nose and more outriggers than I want to admit). Blasting down the back strait well into the 60's, it stuffed and drove itself into the mud/weeds. It didn't resurface for ~45 minutes. It rearmed and was running when it resurfaced. It was bone dry inside.

There were lots of great runs. Darrin broke both his N-1 records, Lohring Miller let me drive his gas mono to new G-2 and GX-2 records. One of the 1/8 scale nitro racers came within 8/100 of the current record (low 24 seconds is flying for an 1/8 scale). Mike Campbell came within 1/10 second of the 1/10 scale modern record running that pretty Executone.

Conditions were fantastic, the lake was pretty much a mirror all day. Of course it poured on us while we were packing up:olleyes:

Congratulations guys! That two lap stuff looks like fun.

Brian, stuffing 8 cells into that DH pickle must be bordering on abuse! I'm looking at mine and trying to figure out how you got them in there. I think I'll stick with 4 :thumbup1:

Oh, it's not boardering on abuse. I didn't even notice the boarder as I went running across it.

The scary thing is that 25.52 S record is pretty soft. Even with the tiny boat, there's another 1.5-2 seconds there for the taking. It's the boat I usually run in LSH. It needs a turn fin that's suitable for the speed and weight of the boat and possibly a little deeper rudder. Need to be able to put it in lane 1 not lane 8. It just won't stick the way it's set up. You can see in the video the one time I tried to really pull it in tight, it slid way out.

Time for a couple new Whiplashes that will be purpose built for SAW's and 2-lap.

Nice work, All ! Two-laps are the greatest. Sorry Brian, twice now you could've had my P-Sport record - (once with my own boat 'till you found that pesky turtle on lap 2 at Legg.) Thanks for the pix . District 8 Rocks :thumbup1:

Congrats guys on the new records. Makes me want to start build more boast that fit in carry on cases to go travel and race.
