Dude - what motor, what prop, type of boat???? Can't even begin to say without all that info.

If it was the apparition cat with the Turnigy 600 1400kv you need to go back to the drawing board and study setups. That motor is rated @ 110 amps and suggests a 150 amp speed controls. Do you really wonder why it went pooooooof with an 80a esc?

Over propped/RPM'd it and too high of KV for the ESC. 10s 1400kv is 51k RPM.

For 10s use the 880kv model motor. With 1400kv, use the 6s 180a ESC and you're good to go.

I have a T80 HV that I run on 8-12s, but that's with a 38mm prop and 880kv.

DID YOU hook up 12s to a hv 80 amp controller and a 1400kv motor? There are far more problems there than you may think. Good thing you didn't get it in the water!:flame42:

I can help explain, since I sold him the boat.

I was selling two boats, a. 1400kv, no speedo b. 880kv, 80HV speedo. Both Apparition hulls, painted with same looking setups. There was a lot of talk about running boat b on 12s and running boat a on 6s w/turnigy 180a. I've had fairly good luck running the 80HV on 8, 10 and 12s in boat b. He chose boat a and needed a speedo. At the time I didn't have any high amp ESC's.

Being excited about a new boat, there must have been some confusion on the setup info which resulted in the 80HV being hooked up to the 1400kv motor.

To a pro, mis-matching KV/Volts is a stupid mistake. To a sport boater or somewhat new FE boater, it's an easy mistake. Especially when there's a very similar setup with very close numbers.

Im confused here...........the OP has made four posts and still has not shared/confirmed his setup.............unless its the 1400kv being tossed around

I can. I built it. 1400kv 4030 Outrunner, 078 wire, K45 prop. 32" Apparition Cat Hull.
Good for 6s/200a ESC for 50+ mph. (Video available in the Project Apparition Two thread. )
Bad on 10s/80a ESC

yes def looks as though he ran the 1400kv motor on 10s.... hence why it probably blew at half throttle... at that point he was running about what rpm the motor should of been at while full throttle on 5s or 6s... Oh well like FC says... very minor stuff.... at least it wasnt as super expensive esc.... could have been worse..... just a $80 day on the water.... in FE thats minor....lol...

Ben

I was curious and looked back at your apparition sale thread. You were pretty clear about the 1400kv motor being a good 6s setup with a 180a or 240a esc. Brad was looking for and passed on at least one 180a esc, then for some reason settled on the 80hv ($$$)?? over several suggestions on higher amp esc's. Unless he's got $$$ to burn like he just did, hope he slows down and does some reading, studying and listening to the experienced guys on here that are very very willing to help keep this exact type of thing from happening..

ANY esc. Or motor for that matter. Try for a target rpm from around 27000 to 33000. More is just asking for trouble if tou don't have a very well trimmed setup.

No orignally i had the 180 amp esc i bought in the apparition running 4s, but my Leopard 4082 came in for my Genesis and decided to run it with the leopard, 5s 48mm prop.

Ya my Genesis is around 35,000 if im correct.

It all boil's down to me getting excited to have a 12s sable esc and not thinking about the motor kv rating(what rpm it was going to be). Common ROKKIE mistake. Ill just learn from it. I hope i didnt afend anyone with my posts and wanna thank the guys on ose that have helped me get started and the great info they have gave me!!!!!!:)

After receiving more complaints about more of your responses, I was pointed to this thread.

This is no way to start a conversation about the guys setup. I was going to permanently ban you but Danny saved your butt. It is the last time for this. You are on notice.
