Best Connectors

Are there any better connectors out there. I know there are several and all claim to be great but there must be 1 that sort of sticks out from the bunch. Looking for high current capabilities with the least amount of loss yet easy enough to take apart without busting your fingers. So what is the consensus. Deans, Traxxas, Bullet or whatever or is this like the Chevy/Ford debate. :zip-up: I am only starting in the hobby but figure I might as well start off with doing the basics correctly.

Right now I have a Titan boat on order and this comes with Traxxas connectors, The batteries are Turnigy so they would be bullet, The charger is an iCharger with a paraboard and this comes with deans. Kinda hoping the deans is a good choice because of the parabord which can be seen here. Not really a problem as I could always make adapters for the board if deans is not the better choice. Regardless I will need to do some soldering one way or the other.

deans are weak...bullet connectors all the way in rc boats..they can take a lot more current

traxxas connectors are pretty good. i use em and have no problems, but im not running any crazy set-up. bullet connectors are awesome but you can short em out real easy. traxxas connectors are less prone to mishaps.

The best connector is the Schulze gold plated aluminium twin 6mm bullet connector, they are rated at 300A and made to tight tolerances so you wont get sloppy pairs or pairs that are too hard to pull apart like I do my Chinese 6mm and they weigh only 3.5g a pair.
However they are not cheap, I don't use them myself as at 10 euros a pair it would cost me around £300 to replace all the Chinese gold plated brass single 6mm connectors rated at 160A that I use (I say gold plated, but its more like they were sat next to something gold plated when they were growing up for all the gold that's on them)there not nearly as good but at a tenth of the price of the schulze its not such a hardship to replace a tarnished pair or throw away a pair you cant get apart.

I use 5,5mm bullet connectors from ebay, they are perfect

I am using the 5.5 mm bullets. I have tried the Hobby City ones, but found that in my case, the plating was thin and they really degraded quickly over time. I then switched over to the 5.5 mm ones sold here at OSE. They are a bit more expensive, but they are better quality.

The deans are great connectors at the lower amperage levels, but once I started exceeding 100amps the solder started to melt off and they began to fail frequently. That is when I made the switch over. The down side is that you need to PAY ATTENTION when connecting. You can easily short a battery or make some errors and scare the $&$&$ our of yourself when it arcs.

I have notice that a great deal of boaters here have settled on the 5.5mm connectors, of course there is a little bit of everything above and below that as well.

I like the 5.5mm bullets on almost everything but my bigger NEU's and Lehners which i run 8mm bullets too... everything else I keep simple with just 5.5mm's.... makes it easy as I can mix and match anything quickly....

I like the e-Flite 5mm for batteries as they are polarized and good quality. Only $1.29 for a set of 2 on HobbyKing.
The 5.5mm's are great for motor/ESC as you don't have to worry about polarity...JMHO.

I just switched from 6.5's to the e-Flite connectors. Three times I inadvertently shorted the 6.5's and I though I had them insulated to make that impossible. Silly me! Now I've pre-built pairs of battery conections to put them in series. No rat's nest of wires, 5 connectors instead of 12 and I think I'll be happy. Running them on a 4025-800 Scorpion Outrunner at 8s.

These are on the packs from hobby king. I use them now exclusively.

Works well, solders good, fool proof.

Im scared of going just bullet connectors as Im bound to mess them up and have issues.
