Got bored last night and tore out the factory trays and made some carbon ones. Replaced the factory esc with the HobbyWing 150a and ran her on 6s.
First run 47.8mph on prather s215.
Second run 53.6mph on x642! Pretty satisfied with the speed for now.

Thank you for your reports. I just shared your test results with the RC Groups Thread on Miss Geico under your authorship.
Being new to this segment of the RC hobby, information like yours is extremely helpful and will certainly save some $$ for newbies like me.
I new I liked the boat, but it seems like it just keeps getting better.
Thanks again.

Do you want to sell the ProBoat ESC?

Jac 4412, looked on the ragged edge at times but stayed planted.

Stringfly, I used polyurethane adhesive in a caulk tube.

Boomer thanks for the support. Remember this is not the stock esc!

Slyman, think imma keep it for now. I need a good rescue boat.......

Yes. I would use 15deg. Works good with the factory motor.

The bigger the esc the more head room you will have :thumbup1:

Ran today on an Align 600L 1620kv on 6s and got several passes before smoking the motor. Oh well apparently the 645 was too much for that motor. Highest mph recorded was 53mph. Got some good video but my modem is poop and won't let me upload the video. Will get replacement modem asap.

How did the stock motor run on 6s? was the temps acceptable?

Temps were fine on factory motor. I was running her extremely dry. Not sure the hull even in the water!

Yeah I have a better longer stretch but some vegetation has taken it over big time. Plus this place is like a minute from the house.

Seems that is the way the boat runs the best!

Excellent that's good news... I'll finally get to play with mine next weekend when I go home from school... She's probably all dusty from the lack of attention... Good news is that I have the x624 and 2 new flex shafts for her and some new lipos. I'll check her out stock, take a video of her (boat view) and then I'll see where I go from there

Two 3s batts instead of the factory two 2s batts. That outrunner sounded sweet til it melted down. I love the sound they make.

Hey Blackjack26
Can you share the part number of the HobbyWing 150a you have. I googled it and came up a bunch of ESCs for cars.
Also, what should one of these babies cost? Any tip on a good place to get one?
Thanks Boomer

I own 3 and two are hobbywing which you can get on eBay or himodel site. Should cost between 90 to 115 bucks. Hobbyking also sells the identical esc under turning k-force 150a. Great controls but don't have watercooling. Easily made with some 1/8 tubing.

Took her out this morning with a new setup. Running a 1512 castle 1800kv on 6s with a m440 and got 58mph out of her. Motor was only about 100 degrees so more prop needed. Ran great with quite a bit of chop and didn't hear any hints of the dreaded "wa wa". Will try and get video later if the wind dies down.

I'd stick with 5s on that motor, and a bigger prop. That much rpm is asking for trouble.

Now wait a minute, I know someone that was running a twin 2200kv's on 5s if I remember correctly.....:spy:

What esc did you used with a Castle neu 1512? . Does it draw a lot of amp ?

Hi there

just got my hands on MG .Got a couple of 6s lying ard. Wonder if the hull is able to clear the height of hobbyking 180A esc (H34mm)? and still able to cover the tupperware lid. :confused2:

I don't know since I don't have any logging equiptment but with that small a prop I would say no. But it will soon!

Battlefury, not sure if it will fit in the stock location. It may have to be moved forward of the motor. 6S in each side will not fit unless they are small packs. Mine are 5000mah 3s in each side in series. My esc is a turnigy K-force aka hobbywing 150a helicopter esc. Love em to death, never hand any problems with em.

Opps. maybe i didnt made it clear i planned to run on 2x3s. My only concern is now does the MG hull able to clear the height of the 34mm esc with the tupperware lid closed comfortably. Assuming i were to place it at stock ESC location.

If it doesnt, there is a' main tray' in the hull , might need to cut it to sink the 34mm(H) esc in. hope that works.

What coooling system are u using for k-force or does it even need one?

Regards

I used some 1/8 tubing in between the valleys of the heatsink. Three tubes, (1) over each row of FET's. Control has never been hot just warm at most. I am also running a homemade cap bank just in case.
