I'm not sure if word of this got out so I'd thought I'd post it here. I like to talk to myself. lol

The SOWEGA gang will be testing lights on Friday night. One of these lights is good for four acres. The pond is three acres and they have three lights so the pond should be lit up like a stadium.:thumbup1:
If the testing goes well we will be taking a dinner break Sat. around 6 or so and then the racing will resume. Dinner will be provided.

If you have gensets, cords, and lights for your pits bring them.

Thanks and I'll see ya at the pond.

What is a classic thunder boat?

They are big old classic hydros powered by stock Zenoah 26cc engines.
Like this one that I haven't finished yet.:o Maybe this winter.

I have about changed my mind on the power for this thing. The engine that I had for it has been modified and is now in my Stryker "Offshore Electrics" cat.

How did it go this weekend Doug (besides freezing your arse off??)

Hi Mike,
When we arrived Fri. morning to set up it was in the upper 30s and the wind was 10 to 20. The wind got worse as the day went on. Sat. morning there was frost on the ground and the wind was down but that didn't last long. LOTS of DNFs in gas, nitro and FE. ( I passed out 4#s of lead this weekend)
There were some great heats after dinner when the sun went down, the pond went flat, and the lights came on.
Night racing is awesome and believe it or not there was zero carnage. We ran a 8 boat P Limited Hydro heat and everyone came in running. Too cool!!
Sunday morning was cool but turned out to be a great day and we had SOME good water.
I'll post some pics as soon as I find some more to steal. lol I was too busy to pick up the camera.
I'll post the race results when they are available.

Doug
PS Some tall guy from Atl, took the Dist. Championship in all five FE classes.:w00t:
It's been a good year!!!

Congratulations Doug!!! You build great boats and run em hard. And your a great mentor to boot!

:bowdown::bowdown::bowdown:

BTW- How many speed controllers and motors did you burn out this year to get all five class championships??

Thanks Mike.

I hope I don't regret saying this, but I haven't lost any equipment since the Barracuda firmware issue back in 07??

I ended up taking a few months off this year, and I am starting fresh with some new boats. I will have a spec tunnel tomorrow. I just picked up a JAE kit, and I am thinging about doing an LSH with the new Insane. after that who knows what I will build next. Hopefully starting now, I will have time to get everything built, tested, and ready to race for next year.
