NAMBA Dist 19 usually holds an annual race here (http://www.namba19.com/sites/sandiego.html), but it is salt water and they had to cancel this years event due to a steep increase in park fees.

We're seeing the increase in park fees here in Az, too.

I'm not aware of any current organized FE running in San Diego, or any fresh water access. But, if you guys find something or organize something, keep us posted.

I used to run my scale subs at Santee, but now i run my FE at mission bay pond.. I would run my boat at Santee. Do they care about speed boats there? i know they don't care about scale boats, like military boats.

I think there is a sink large enough to rinse your boat at the bathrooms.

Hey, just caught this thread. Brad [V-Spec] runs FE in SD ; give him a shout (PM).

How about a road trip up to Legg Lake in L.A. sometime? Or maybe an event at Questtek Joe's private lake in Lake Forest - half way {or so}. To run at Legg must have NAMBA card - $ 45 / year, sign up after October & it's good for 2011. Just a thought to get more of us together. :thumbup1:

Oops, it's Brent, not Brad. I talked to him yesterday & He may come up one day this weekend for the Straightline races at Legg. Be fun to watch if you can make it.

Im in SD, I run at Mission Bay Model Yacht Pond in the spring and summer. Just ran there yesterday with my new Motley Crew and it's on rails in the mid 50's! If I'm not working I'm up for meeting up there and or just helping with questions, setups etc anytime.

It's on vacation island, http://www.sandiego.gov/park-and-recreation/parks/missionbay/facilities1.shtml

No membership and no fees. Just make sure you bring some fresh water and rinse and clean your boats well (Before) you pack up and go home as it's salt water.

The water there is very salty. You will need a bottle of fresh water to rinse at the end of the day. Things corrode real fast. But it is a very quiet relaxing place.

Can't say. It's one of those unpredictable moments as there aren't many that enjoy the hobby. But Saturdays sometimes look good.

I try to go on Sundays after about 2pm or so when all the gas boats are gone or leaving. I hate those things! Saturday is supposed to be for sailboats and Sundays for Power boats but if you go after about 2pm the lakes usually fairly free either day. PM me sometime maybe we can meet up if you'd like.

Anyone ever run in the lagoons on the coast in North County?
Like Carlsbad Lagoon.

no, i think its too salty?

To be honest I have no reason to run anywhere in San Diego except the model yacht pond. It was built just for us and nothing else! Sure it's salt water, big deal takes me 2 minutes to clean boats after a run. On top of that my boats are a little bit faster there. Keep your boat dry inside and there's nothing to worry about. I've ran there for years.

I'll be going out to the model yacht pond this coming wednesday the 29th to run my Motley Crew more likely than not, if anyone would like to meet up there. Might bring a couple other boats too. What boats do you guys have?

Most of the sail guys are probably there today anyways. I only get one Sunday off per month so that's the only weekend I can go down there.

I know the feeling. I'm working on another project for the last couple of months that's just taking up too much of my free time. After that, I have a couple of boat projects I need to finish.

I have EKOS (Electric king of shaves) by VENOM. a few upgrades there and there, but trying to mod the interior with CF. and relocating motor/esc/battery places. But it would be nice to get a little help with understanding the weight distrubtion on these CAT hulls.. For now I will leave things in stock til then.
