I have taken out my drive cable a few times to regrease but have not taken out the teflon liner yet. My friend just took his stinger off and found that his teflon liner is not full length but was just 2 short pieces, one up by the motor and one in the rear ! Is this normal? Shouldn't the teflon liner be pretty much the full length of the stuffing tube ? Any help would be helpful.
Thanks.

Yes this is normal don't know why two pieces but it works well I have changed mine over to full length and it works good too.

Mine is two-piece as well, no problems to note, but I'll probably change it to a full length liner when it's time replace the prop shaft bushing.

How much cable is left open? This is not good if you want it smooth. It can whip anywhere it is not supported unless you are talking 1/2" or less in the tube.

I have not pulled mine yet but from my friends description of the 2 pieces.....I would say about 3 to 4 inches unsupported.

Aquacraft will probably say the two peice system is better to create a grease pocket to stop the water coming up the shaft. I think they save 39 cents per boat. Install a full lenght teflon liner for about $1.50 and while your at it, please consider adding extra support for the stuffing tube at the motor end. Your flex cable will love you for it. BG
