maybe i should not be mentioning them in the same sentence but what would you rather have to push a big mono lets say a 37 to 45 inches..leopard 5692 1340kv or 1527 1y 1250kv....i am talking strictly performance and not money here..the leopard appears to have more peak watts but i am partial to the neus after running them in all my boats..maybe i am a little worried about going a little cheaper on these leopards...mmmm i don't know totally stuck in limbo...oh yeah the motots would be run on 6s or 7s lipo

happy boating

I think the answer is to open up both of those puppies and see what is inside as far as quality, does anybody have pictures? I think I know the answer based on price...could be wrong though.. 37-45" is pushing the envelope on 6 and 7S and those motor choices

yeah the whole price thing worries me with the addage of getting what you pay for..however i really cannot knock the leopard until i try it...btw if you look on ebay or kershaw designs they have the leopard at 169.99 now..its a huge beast of a thing...it just seems too good to be true if it miraculously performs as good as neus..but it may be worth a try

The guy only has 5 of them. They will all be gone by Saturday unless you jump on them now.

cooling would be a problem at first..i think i would go with the silicone water jackets temporarily until something else comes out

What about using just regular coil wrapped around the motor?
Like in the brushed motors?
My friend uses it on his 1527 and refuses to go to anything else, he has his water jacket just sitting there.....

better price here: http://www.rc-fans88.com/details.asp?prodid=2183
I've bought stuff from them before, shipped out of chine, so have to wait a bit but it gets to the destination :)

$40 less before shipping is nothing to sneeze about. Shipping is $20(air)-$26(ems) so maybe end difference is not that much.

Did you also order cooling jackets?
Kinda bad if you get motors then have to wait 2 more month for the jackets to arrive.

Steven any ideas when the cooling jackets will be in for the Leopard 4074s?

Do you mean Leopard sells jackets? If thats the case I didnt know.

We have to have the 56mm motors in our possession before we can design and test jackets. It takes time.

I hope to have more 40mm jackets in a couple of weeks.

water jackets are fairley easy to make.....just find a piece of pvc pipe with an outside diameter thats about 1/8" bigger than the outside diameter of the motor......wrap carbon fiber cloth around around the pvc pipe about 4 or 5 times and clear epoxy it.......wrap the pvc pipe with seran wrap first..then just take the finish product to plumbing supply house and get two o-rings to match

Hello

I have a Leopard LB5692 1090KV, it´s a 2Y winding.
The first thing i made was opening it up, in order to see the interior.......
The quality seems very good, just like craftmanship.
All is made by CNC machines, wich is normal in chinese countries....i already visited a factory that had more then 50 CNC lathes working day and night with automatic feeders.....

The stator laminations are 0,2mm, the cross section of the cooper cable is considerable, the same as mine 1527 1.5D.
The rotor seems well balanced, and is wrap around carbon fiber.
But all go to this.

Cooper cable quality
Magneth quality
Design quality

This is what changes efficiency from 80 to 95%

I still couldn´t test it because it doesn´t work with mine schultze 32.200WK :confused1:

Schulze ESC's have a hard time with some motors...

The 1080Kv on 8S will be nice, 32,000 rpm unloaded. Good for my 40" mono.

Would the 40/74 2200kv leopard work in 1/10 scale hydro turning left prop447r on
one 4s pack 5000m 40c castle 240lv . I was going to use it for racing

I've tried 445, it worked well, on 5000mah I get about 2 minutes runtime at WOT in a mono. So maybe 447 will be ok as well. Hydro should load the prop less and with 445 the motor comes in cold anyway, so extra load should be ok.
